Check engine Light on. PLZ help
 

Well my check engine light came on yesterday so i took it to auto zone to get it hooked up to a cpu to find the problem. This is what they told me to write down and show it to someone at the Honda dealership:

P1259

Immobilizer to PCM Signal error

Does anyone know what this means?

Did they give u a code number at all? Should be a 1 or 2 digit code

that is the code, thats what the code looks like when its from a scanner. if you look inside a manual it will say the codes and what they mean. sorry i cant be much more help im at work and dont have any info here.

Just to clear it up: "P" codes are specific to OBD2...and "P1" indicates a manufacturer specific code.

And you have a totally stock 97 Ex....I thought only Teg's came equipped with immobilizers???

No, sounds like the vtec solenoid is either not connected, or is a bad solenoid.

Jump the solenoid by taking a piece of wire and putting 12v volt to the solenoid. It should click. If it does, you have a wiring problem or bad connection. If it doesn't click, then the solenoid will need to be replaced.

Thanks for the info again fellas. I tested and cleaned the solenoid and now my CEL is off and my Vtec is back! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
