Catchcan baffeling question

I machined a custom catch can for my setup and was wondering why some are baffled? do i need to baffle it? any help would be appriciated.

baffling stops all the shit from going in one hose and right out the other. yes, i would recommend baffling. my greddy catch can didn't catch anything. my new one with a baffle does.

is it better to pack it full of baffling or just like half way or what?

mine just has a sort of plate between the inlet and outlet. the way the air travels it makes it impossible to pull all the crap around it. most people just stuff it with steel wool, although i have no experience with that sort of setup.
