buying a long-block.... plz help
 

im purchasing a D16Y7 long-block from a friend and i have some questions:
how do i check compression?(the motor is sitting on his garage floor)
how do i test for a leaking HG?
whats a fair price for this motor?
anything else i should be conserned about?
