Default Building H22A bottom end, Domestic engine building shop?

I'm definately having my engine built sometime in the next few weeks. I'm curious if having a domestic shop build it would be bad? It's approx 2 blocks away. My other choice is to drive it like 45mins to a shop that does Hondas. Basically, are domestic engine building shops not a viable choice? I would suppose since honda clearances are much tighter than domestic engines, this would not be a good idea. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Ask potential shop how small their honing and align honing mandrels will go down to. Their answer will tell you if they have made the commitment to modern, smaller engines by investing in proper tooling.

i had no idea a 45 minute drive was to far. **** I drive that to work everyday. I would give my left nut for a Machine Shop that was good with Honda's around St. Louis.

Not to Hi-jack your thread but does anyone know of a GOOD machine shop around St. Louis MO? I need one bad. I just took my head to a local very reputable machine shop that does extremely well with V8, and they took out every dowel pin in the head and when I took it back to them to ask what they were they said they didn't know. I mean f**k I took it there for a cleaning (hot tank), put Ferrea springs, retainers, exhaust manifold bolts, and a 3 angle valve job and the head came back dirty, well dirty is not the correct word but not as clean as it should have been for being hot tanked. The 2 head/block dowel pins and center dowel pin and o ring for the oil under the center cam cap were both not installed. Now if they would not have put the dowel pins in the bag I would have no idea to even If it is not a damn Ford, Chevy, or Dodge then it's just a joke. SO PLEASE FROM MY EXP PLEASE DO YOURSELF A BIG A$$ FAVOR. ONE, DRIVE THE 45 MINUTES TO GO TO A REP MACHINE SHOP FOR HONDA, OR TWO, FIND A NEW HOBBY. I am not trying to be rude but please just drive the 45 minute's.

Damn guy. I asked what ppl thought and I get totally flamed. I was going to go with the import shop anyway but I was curious if anyone went to a domestic engine building shop to do their honda motor. Also 45mins is not far at all.
