Broken wire
Hello. I would like someone to assist me on how to fix a wire that has been broken off. The wire is the BLUE wire that is in the harness right next to the dizzy. I am thinking its a RPM wire or something... I have no clue... all I know is that it got snagged and pulled out of the harness.
I unplugged the harness and the contact is still in the harness. Only the WIRE itself came out of the thing. I have no way of reconnecting it unless I get the connector out of the harness. Anyone know how to go about getting the connector out of the harness?? I thought there was a tab or something locking the connector in place but, I cant seem to locate one or I cant get it to come out. ANYBODY, PLEASE HELP! https://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b...zzyharness.jpg I circled which harness I am referring to. So from the front of the car, if you unplug the harness, it is the one on the left hand side. I believe the blue wire is the farthest away on the bottom. |

If no one gives you good instructions then get a good audio male and female splice with rubber boot protectors and cut the wire from the other side of the other half of the connector and make a jumper wire and splice it and completely bypass the connectors. You will need two male and two female and 4 of the correct size rubber boots, should come in a kit of 10 pairs complete at any auto store, and some wire of course.

I did think about that. I was just trying to avoid that scenario. Thank you very much though.

Re: Broken wire (hitekper4mance)
you could get one off of a car in a junkyard. i wouldnt use any kind of butt connector on it. the same thing happened to me and i used butt connectors 3 months later i had to track down every butt connector in my harness and solder/heatshrink everything cause it kept throwing a code and it wouldnt run.
any crimp type connector https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif solder/heatsrink https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
Re: Broken wire (BILLETGRIP)
yeah, i like to solder and heat shrink also. When I pulled out the rubber insert (assuming that it prevents water from getting in) it looks like a plain ol female spade terminal. I was hoping if anyone knew whether or not those can be taken out without breaking anything.
If I can get it out, I can just put in a new wire, crimp it in and lock it back into the harness. |
Re: Broken wire (hitekper4mance)
You can take it out. Just take your time. That rubber thing that you see helps keep water and dirt out. Once you get that out, if I remember correctly, you can remove the terminal with a tiny flat head--the same kind of flat head that you would repair glasses with. You have to either push up or down on it. It should slide out pretty easy. Good luck. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I will definitely try this weekend. I'll post up whether or not I got it to come out or I broke it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif
