Breaking in an axle?
Hey, i just replaced my driver side axle and it broke a week later https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=123005
Im curious if there is some kind of break in period for the axle or did i just get a bum one? it worked for over a week with NO problems. now im worried because i want to go to phoenix on the 7th to run at firebird but its a 130 mile drive each way. so is there some kind of break in period for the axle? i never took my old one above 60 had about 200 miles on it. |
Re: Breaking in an axle? (KAMiN)
You probably just had a bad axle. Just drive normal on the new one for a few miles.

Re: Breaking in an axle? (KAMiN)
ive destroyed 6 axles in my accord. ACT xtreme clutch + Nitrous = Snap! I finally settled with driveshaftshop.com axles and they work fine

Re: Breaking in an axle? (KAMiN)
one of em caused the worst day of my driving life. I was at work (honda dealer) There was a hailstorm coming and I ran out to my car to pull it inside just as the winds really picked up and it was pitch dark out (2:00PM). I hop inside, start it, drop the clutch and BOOM!! The axle snapped in the middle of the street! I hop out and push the car to the curb just as the hail comes. I popped the trunk and threw the car cover on. Went back to work, soaked and pissed off. Turns out the hood was the only thing that got major damage, so I ended having the insurance company pay for the hood and the PDR. Every cloud has a silver lining!
