brakes?
ok...i'm puttin on an aem big rotor kit...i've heard that you have to put new pads on at the same time... is that true?

Re: brakes? (gonk_1)
is this guy for real, is this funny just for me or is people actually getting a kick out of it
ok man just use the same brake pads, it will be OK |
Re: brakes? (CW_98gsr)
it would be "OK" but its not recommended. Try searching AEM's website or talk to their customer service reps and find out what you need to do the install.

Re: brakes? (DARKTEG_)
its bettert to change the pads at the same time. Brake pads will create a wear pattern. If the rotors u had previously had any kind of groves or wear marks, u would have the same groves and wear marks on that corresponding pad. Now what happens is, when u take that pad off, and use it with ur new rotor it will transfer those groves and wear marks from ur pad onto ur new rotor. It will trash a new rotor, especially if they are ceramic pads. If ur going to spend good money on rotors, u might as well spend sum on pads too.

Re: brakes? (DA_integra_Dude)
the rotors are used too, off my friends car...
|
Re: brakes? (DARKTEG_)
Resurface + new pads...
|
Re: brakes? (DARKTEG_)
yea, i would just have ur rotors turned, and get new pads.........................r they slotted or drilled.................if so i would get a set of ceramic pads.
|
Re: brakes? (DA_integra_Dude)
aem slotted, the thing is i have ebc green stuff pads that are only 6 months old, and they're not cheap, and front rotors are mildly warped...
|
Re: brakes? (DARKTEG_)
i know how pricy those pads r, i think it would be safe to say, go ahead and use those pads and when it comes time to replace them, have ur rotors turned at that time.
|
Re: brakes? (DA_integra_Dude)
i heard if you have warped rotors turned... that they warp back twice as fast and turn out twice as bad... is this true?

Re: brakes? (iH8RICERZ)
you'll be alright if you decide to use old brake pads but you'll be better of spending the extra $200 on good brake pads. Reasons are is because you would rather have the pads and the rotors work in evenly
Recommed pads AXISS i believe thats what there called just installed them on my rotora slotted disk a day or 2 ago and they work wonderss |
