Auto tranny problems: Codes and a description inside
My girlfriend has a 1997 Integra LS. She recently had her check engine light come on and in addition some tranny problems.
We had it checked out by a mechanic and the following was described to her. 3 Codes were thrown P1660 A/T line signal failure P0700 A/T system malfunction P0715 Main shaft speed sensor failure The mechanic informed us that someone had put the dip stick for the tranny in wrong and it had hit a gear inside the transmission causing it to malfunction. (The dipstick was checked when she recently had her oil changed) After a road test the mechanic cleared the codes and and said everything was working normal. A few days later the same thing has happened. Check engine light, a slipping (almost as if in neutral, but it does move a little) tranny. I inspected the dip stick and there are two marks were it has been sheared. My best guess is that the two sheared areas of the dip stick are still floating around in the tranny and causing the problems. My question is, with those codes being thrown and the problems described. Could someone offer any suggestions or solutions? Thanks (Tranny fluid is apperars to be clean and there is plenty in the tranny) |
