alternator problem as well!
i am wiring in a b16a2 jdm spec into my 1996 del sol si with d16y8
heres the problem I am using the us spec wiring harness from the d16y8, and it will not attatch to the jdm alternator due to the fact that the US spec harness has a 3wire plug alternator and the jdm harness has a 4wire plug alternator the 4 wire japanses one says it is internally regulates i guess this refers to voltage regulation so i need to put the japanese alternator on, but I need to know what to do with the extra wire! right? and how and where do i wire it? next question...is the b16a2/3 UNITED STATES AND CANADA spec alternator 4 wire plug as well? not that that would help, just wondering i mean, if the alternator is self regulating, why does it have an extra wire, and where do i wire it to! |
Re: alternator problem as well! (topher)
I can tell you what the four wires are for, but I can't help much beyond that.
IG -- Battery voltage from the ignition switch C -- Control signal from the ECU. This turns the alternator (VR) on and off L -- Controls the warning light on the dash FR -- Tells the ECU "how hard" the alternator is working to keep up with car's DC current demands. The ECU looks at the Electric Load Detector (an "ammeter" on the fuse box) and the alternator's FR signal. Under low load conditions, it'll use the C signal to turn off the alternator. Hope this is helpful. |
