Alarm or Kill switch??
 

I was just wondering what you guys think is better for security: An alarm or a removeable kill switch?
I had my car stolen just over a year ago and had just the factory alarm, I wasn't able to upgrade it. On my car now I have an alarm that cuts the batery power if the alarm is not disarmed within a couple of minutes. The only problem with that is that if someone breaks into the car they can disconnect or cut the alarm.
On the other hand, a kill switch will cut off all power, but I have the problem of kids in my area that break into cars and steal thing out of them. Also I have remote start with the alarm so I figure with the switch I won't be able to use it.

A well installed reputable alarm is almost always better. If you're worried about them cutting the power get a battery backup siren

Both.

Think of it as 'Active' and 'Passive' defense strategies. An alarm is an "active" defense and it CAN be defeated, Battery cut, alarm siren cut, etc. A kill switch if carefully installed can be very hard to find and circumvent.

How would this be done?
Also I was reading about a fuel cut switch. I figure it would just cut off the fuel line and the electrical to the battery would be active so I could still use the alarm.

get low jack so your car wont get jacked and a rifle so people will stop fuckin with your car

Low jack only works if you know your car got stolen, which is usually too late. I personally am going with the auto-lock + multi-kill switch approach, and when I get the money together I'm going to get the clifford pager alarm. I see it like this, the thief spends the time getting the auto-lock off, if he even can, and then goes to start the car and he relizes it won't start and will most likely be frustrated and bail out. http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

You do know that the auto-lock is easily breakable? They use a device just like the clubuster. Also, being that you dont have a siren to warn people. The theif prolly has a multimeter to test voltage for yuor kill switches and can run alternate sources of power to the needed locations (I.E Fuel pump).


IMO. Get both. Hell even get LoJack too. Work the kill switches into your alarm, so that you have to disarm the alarm to deativate the kill switches. Last resort would be lojack.
