air filter question...
the air filters that come in just that wire mesh/screen material is garbage right...it has no paper, cotton, etc filtering elements.....just a screen mesh material shaped like cone...my friend here at work has that type of filter on his intake (bought the car with it) and i told him he should switch it to a k&n filter over that thing on there now....when the car is idling u can here a freaky sound from the intake sucking i thought the k&n would reduce or eliminate that sound due to an actual filtering element being present...am i right or wrong...please corrrect me...thanks

The generic ones usually arent pre-oiled I believe, and they probably dont flow as well.

Re: air filter question... (teg-your-it)
It's hard to understand exactly what you're asking... If he just has some kind of screen mesh, then that's not doing much filtering. A K&N or an OEM filter will be much better. OEM probably muffles more noise than K&N.
