Advanced timing on B16

First of all : yes I've read all previous topics about this subject http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif

Howmuch degrees advance is "safe" on the B16a1 running on 98 RON pump gas?
Stock is 14 +-2

I have cai/header/exhaust

I wouldn't do more than 16 degrees

i see in your signature "chipped ecu"...what did that entail? im sure if its for na setup it called for agressive ignition advance...something that would be greatly effected by static ignition timing advance...best bet is to read the plugs; With enough fuel it should not be an issue to stay stock.

Not entirenly sure.. One of these days I want to load the rom into the Hondata program and see what the modifications really are. I know it raises the revlimter to 9000, lowered VTEC engagement (with fuel map correction).

Sadly I spent the budget on brakes so no money left for a B18 and /or Hondata http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif

You're sure it's not 16+/-2? Anyway, I'm running 2 degrees advanced on 94 octane, no real problems... 36psi fuel pressure also.

Re: Advanced timing on B16 (builthatch)

Thanks for the information guys..friend of mine set the timing to 21 and fried one of his pistons.. So I'm like "mmm that's not because you advanced to far?" -> "nah".

I'll leave the ignition advance as it as..(for now)

Builthatch that's one fast SOHC http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmilep.gif
