Default jb weld question? wideband bung for downpipe...

Just out of interest...do you reckon JB weld will hold a bung in place in my downpipe? The bung is to be used for WB tuning?
Also what happens to JB weld when it reaches its melting point? does it melt? like a goo... or crumble like a powder?

Thanks in advance

i just welded it myself in the end, it wasnt pretty and im sure theres a few gaps round the edges of the bung where it meets the downpipe, can i still use this for wideband o2 tuning? or will the gaps somehow affect the readings..

Im looking to get a stainless steel downpipe soon the one i have is mild and is rusting so i dont give a **** about it, just wanna get my car tuned and on the road

Try to fill in the gaps, as they can draw in air and cause the sensor to read lean.

As I cant get into that angle with a welder, does anyone recommend brazing? Just so I can fill the gaps....

JB weld is the ****....

So has anyone seen JB weld melt or crack? Not from strain on the joint but heat related...

Cheers

I would braze it if you can get the heat where you need it. JB weld is only good to around 300 degrees F.

I agree, just braze it.

JB Weld is good to 600*F and just melts when you exceed this, and yes, it will melt on a downpipe in no time.

Must be the slow set. I only had the JB Quik to look at.

JB weld is def. not resistant to high heat. Once super heated it will get brittle and break off into little pieces.
