3k rpm idle :crook:
 

After swapping the head and putting a used gsr IM back on that i bought.

the damn car idles at 3k rpm

ive swapped the iacv. it used to idle from 2.5-800

now it turns on at 2.5k then go up gradually to 3k

everyone thinks its a vacuum leak, but im not sure what it is.

im gona buy a vacuum tester today and test it. otherwise i dont know what it is

any help?

GSR IACV? I'm sure you'v noticed there are 2 different styles, gsr and and all other bseries. I noticed the Skunk2 IM is setup to accept either one but the gsr IM won't. If you take off the intake arm, and plug the top hole in the tb with your finger, it will plug the IAC inlet. If its still idles high its pulling air from somewhere else. Does the tb have a FITV on the underside? Vacuum hoses?

Engine RPM only increases with a greater amount of airflow into the engine.

Throttle cable too tight; IACV/FITV has taken a dive; misadjusted idle screws (idle air bypass and throttle blade stop); tear/rip in a gasket....either way you look at it, you've got an unmetered source of air entering your engine.

From your description now, it sounds like you messed with the throttle blade stop screw as this directly affects the TPS voltage at idle. Did the 3k idle start to happen after you tried adjusting something? The hunting idle was due to the 'decel fuel cut' strategy the ECU uses to save gas....but one condition for this to happen is the TPS showing that the throttle is closed (<.5v). So if you touched the throttle blade stop screw and now the TPS is showing >.5v, and you still have a vaccum leak somewhere, engine speed will increase without hunting as you've now deactivated the decel fuel cut.

hrmm...
i havent played with the idle screw at all. never been touched afaik.

the hunting idle was when I had the iacv on there that could have been bad. I swapped it out recently, and now its at the 3k rpm idle

should i check voltage of the tps when at 3k rpm?

can the map or tps sensor go bad?
i did make the mistake of having the plugs connected to the wrong sensors. but i swapped them so each plug is on the right sensor.

Does the idle hold at 3k rpm or is it surging up and down?

You checked everywhere for vacum leaks and got nothing?
