Re: 1998-2002 Honda Accord Ignition Switch Replacement
Just wanted you to know that I found your guide helpful. Getting to skip past all the guess work about how to get at the ignition switch (and being confident that was the problem in the first place) saved me a bunch of time.
Thank you!
Thank you!

I have no idea how to thank OP for this guide other than saying THANK YOU. I've been going through this EXACT same issue for months and no one had been able to fix it. I've been to three mechanics and none got the problem fixed. I've had the fuel pump relay replaced and the distributor along with multiple guesses as to what the exact problem is, but no one has a clue. I got so frustrated at so much wasted time and money that I decided to start looking this up myself and I cane across this forum and guide. What a great write-up!! I can't even begin to thank you enough for it. I did the work myself which took me a few hours but I felt so proud after it was done and no longer giving me problems. Than you, Sir!!

Hello, I have been having similar problems with my 99 Honda Accord it turns off while I'm driving and won't stay turned on unless I hold the key in the run position for a few minutes. The dealer said it was the ignition switch. I was wondering if I replace the ignition switch do I need to have the keys reprogrammed? Or will they work as is?

Hey saw your post thanks, though I have different issue with my Honda civic's Ex 2009 the ignition color coded wirings are cut in half because my dumbass son who tried to hotwire the car... Now I have to change the ignition switch this week.
I have a image of the wirings cut here I was just wondering if the vehicle would actually be able to be sparked or hotwired to turn on in the condition its in. The vehicle Is mine and I have proof of ownership of it and everything..
This is on the ignition of the Honda civic EX 2009.
would you be able to help?? Thanks..
