07 civic subwoofer hookup stock head unit?!? Please help

I've always hooked up my own sound system BUT I've always had an 95 or older and I always put in a new head unit. So now I have a 07 4 door civic and 1. It's a lot more electronically based (which doesn't bother/worry me) and 2. I want to keep the stock head unit due to the curves of the dash and the overall size of the head unit, I think any after market unit will not look right.

So what I'm getting to is, I've purchased all new polk DXI speakers for the whole car plus a 12 sub and I've already hooked up all the interior speakers and tweeters now thinking of ways to go about hooking up the sub.

Has anybody attempted this (with the stock head unit) any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated also if there's anything I need to know going into this project before I tear into it myself?

Thank you, may the force be with you!

you'll need a line output converter to take the speaker level (amplified signal from the speaker wire leads) and convert to line level to send to the sub amp.

I'm more hobbyist than expert when it comes to car audio but I would assume you can simply wire the converter to the rear speaker leads in the trunk to access left and right channel signals and keep wiring short and simple.

I like to get stuff from Parts-Express. they've got some basic, inexpensive line output converters.

Crutchfield has a pretty good range as well, though they are usually more expensive.
