00 Civic SI TB doesn't have FITV???
Like many others, my car has had the fast idle problem for a long time. (First start in the morning, revs up to 1500 and NEVER drops back down unless I warm the engine, shut it off and start it again) I have read TONS of threads on how to fix this problem (mostly said the FITV is to be blame). Yesterday, I finally got time to look for the FITV under the TB. BUT the problem is there is no FITV. I took the intake out, and saw only 1 hole (10 o'clock position) inside the TB, which I believe it is for the IACV unit. The damn TB wasn't even designed to have a FITV unit. People said the FITV is located under the TB and has 2 coolant line conneted to it, but I only saw two coolant line connected to the IACV at the back of the manifold (or that's actually is the FITV, if so, where the hell is the IACV now). My questions are:
1) Is this by design (in all 2000 civic SI)??
2) If the car really doesn't have the FITV, is the fast idle problem normal (revs at 1500 and remains FOREVER) since it doesn't have the FITV to control the idle speed when the engine is cold?
3) How can I fix this problem, if I really want this problem go away so bad? (get a new TB with 2 holes OR drill one)??
Appreciate for any input

First I'll vent about threads & posts saying stuff that applies only to certain range of years, but the poster doesn't know that. Honda changed their engine control systems a lot between a 1977 Civic to '80s to '90s, OBD-1 & OBD-2 are very different, you can imagine...
You have to be careful when you see a thread about a car that's substantially older or newer than yours. At least you ACTUALLY SAID what year/model your car is. Lots of people don't even do that.
I think Honda eliminated the FITV around 1996, maybe later for some models. They incorporated the FITV's job into the newer-style IACV, maybe by ECU control rather than the FITV's method of just responding to the coolant warming up. So you're right - you only have an IACV which does the jobs of both FITV & IACV.
What does your car do if you start it cold, & drive gently until it's warmed up? That's probably how they designed the system to work anyway. Then you can check your IACV for being dirty or stuck, maybe clean it out?
