Okay. Obviously skunk2 and tein basic have different spring rates.

What kind of shocks to you have. How low was you car when you had ebay's special coilover.

i have the whole tien struts. when i had the ebay ones it was dropped about 2.5 inches on stock shocks. they were horrible. w/ the tiens its a lot better but not what i thought i paid 650 for. =/ its lowered about 2.5 inches also.

WOW https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif go buy a scooter

should've researched before you bought... there are reports from many people stating that tein basic is pretty stiff... now depending on who reported it, they'll say the ride is great or the ride is bad. but over all, it's stiff and you can't adjust it.

bottom line, get a comfortable spring rate (i'm assuming you want something fairly soft like maybe off the shelf springs eibach or h&r) and get a decent shock to match

look mang..i have the same exact set up on my gsr and i also had it on my ej1. yea some people will say that tein basics are not the best way to go if u want nice suspencion. But for the price i thought it was a good deal and they are not that bad. I like them and overall its a good ride compared to other basic set ups. My advice is, just get used to it, the stiffer the suspencion the bumpier the ride. so if ur looking for soft ride then go back to stock or ebay shit. It all depends on wat ur after, if u just want to drop ur car just get springs, if u want to ur ride to handle well then get coilovers! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

the moment you decided to go performance/aftermarket suspension, your ride quality is bound to go down... PERFORMANCE UP, COMFORT DOWN. You can't have both...

Even stock performance car like 350z or BMW have a slightly generally stiffer stock suspension and you feel more pump even on those sport factory cars... same thing apply when u put in aftermarket suspension...

You can either go back to stock or stom QQing.

most full coilovers are going to stiff. I went through the same process with the omni full coilovers 6way adj. did not work for me and the outcome was exactly the same as you bro. My advice, sell it, and get some ground control's with either kyb adj/illuminas....this setup will fit your bugdet. I have the GC with kyb adj and love it. the ride quality is so much smoother. Still not stock, but in my opinion 10x better than my omnis. If you decide to stay away from coilovers then get either shock i mentioned and get some tein s-techs/ h&r sports springs. Good luck bro pm me for my questions...

thanks for the input

The reason your "home boy's" ride is "better" ios because his shocks can't control the spring rates he has so his car is actually floating some.

Re: (dvp)

sounds to me like you just need some shocks with lowering springs and you'll be a-ok

your like my friend he just spent 800 on shocks and coilovers bought some of best stuff gound controls and koni yellows but he complains about the ride being to stiff even with the shocks as soft as posible lol i tell him if u want some bomb ass suspension that can bang turns its not going to be the best street ride https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif hell i would love to have his stuff on my car but yeah if u want a good ride just get some coilovers and some basic shocks kyb, koni, tokico ant of ther basic shocks will be great they will last on a lowerd car and will still peform ok i have ground control coil overs and some basic kyb shocks it rides nice but i wish it was more stiffer but thats just me

go back to stock then

frozenb 03-02-2007 07:32 AM

tein basic is stiff? this is the first time i read.
i recommand B&G then. it's a full coilover setup with very very soft spring rate.
and tein flex is basically an upgrade version for the old HA. they are for street preformance driving or winding raod.

allricedout 03-02-2007 10:58 AM

i guess being low is just an accquired feel, eventually u will like them (or maybe not) due to the performance gains in corners.

suspension is a comprimise between looks, handling, and comfort.... you cant have all 3.

And there is your answer.. Why do you want more aggressive handling? You seem like one of those people that are afraid to give your car 100% throttle because it might hurt it.. If your uncomfortable about slight bumps, dont put more aggressive suspension on your car that enables you to corner faster when you wont ever be putting a "load" on it if you will.

And btw I have had Basics, super streets and now my buddy club n+ and i if i may say, if you feel basics are to much then damn. Stick to your oem stuff, you obviously are just wanting to upgrade to fit in i guess.
