Popping when Braking - Timed with wheel rotation
2008 Accord
Hi everyone! I have searched this forum and others and have not been able to find this exact issue.
I just replaced the rear brake pads, and the rear passenger caliper, rotor, and caliper bracket. One of the guide rods had froze and caused the pad to wear uneven, eventually damaging the rotor.
After a few miles with the new gear, I started getting a popping sound that happens only when I brake. It's not a single pop but rather is timed with the rotation of the wheel, slowing as the car slows. It does not do this when breaking in reverse. The car stops fine, and feels fine, but I can feel the popping a little in the brake petal. I checked the bolts and nothing is loose. I replaced the anti-rattle clips as part of the job, but the pads I purchased did not have the anti-rattle springs, nor even the holes for them. I also stripped one of the rotor retaining screws, so only one went back on.
Do you think it could be the lack of these springs causing this or maybe something else?

I was able to correct the problem by replacing the rotor and pads. I got the Wagner brand pads which have the anti-rattle springs. Still not sure if it was a bad rotor or pads, but I was not interested in waiting any time troubleshooting it.
