New drum wont fit into new shoes
so I was doing a rear brake job for a 94 civic, I put both new shoes and drums. But when everything is done, the new drum just wont go in. Is there any trick that I can get it in place? Thanks guy

It may sound dumb, but check the new and old drums and shoes. sometimes local parts stores give ya the wrong parts.
When you reassembled everything, did you go by the helms book?
Check the adjusting prawl, make sure the springs are hooked to the right place, because the drum will easily slide on, there are no tricks except maybe the two shoes aren't 'centered'. shift them left and right (you should have some side to side play) and sort of position it in the middle, though I don't believe this will affect the drum sitting on a stock drum assembly.

Re: New drum wont fit into new shoes (BrakeExpert)
I figure whats the problem today, I had to re-adjust the adjusting screw.
But when I went for a test drive, the car barely stops even I press the pedal all the way to the floor.
Same thing with the E brake, wont stop on the last click

Screw the adjuster in until you can fit the drum over the shoes. The adjuster has been compensating for the old thinner shoes and now that you have put the new thicker shoes on the drum wont fit over them.
Oh yeah it also helps if your parking brake is in the off position. lol been there done that.
Sometimes (I know I had to do this on my toyota) when your putting it back together you have to loosen your parking brake cable to adjust the shoes and then re adjust your parking brake.

If your brake pedal is still bottoming out and everything else seems right you may have a bad MC. $75 (+core) at autozone last time I had to swap one out.
With the engine off can you pump the pedal and make it rock hard?
When you bled the brakes did you get a pretty good flow of fluid at each corner of the vehicle? Poor flow when pumping the pedal could mean that the MC is bad or massive amouns of air is still in the line.

Does it feel like the front brake are working too hard (nose-dive when braking hard)?
I've never been able to get drum brake adjusted right. It always feels like the fronts are over worked and the pedal is very soft.
Adjusting the prawl through the hole on the back side of the drum seems almost impossible. I would love to hear the trick on how to do this.

No doubt it is a pain. But once you get it down it is a snap.
There is a special tool to adjust the rear drums. Its looks stupid and yeah you can do it with a screwdriver. But it makes the job so much easier.

You can probably borrow one from autozone for free.
