ITR Mini front brake upgrade. Look here for an update!
ALL PICS AND FITMENT INFO HAS BEEN PUT IN THIS POST
So I have the ITR Mini brakes on my DB8. For those of you that are scratching your heads. You take ITR calipers, brackets, and pads with an 07 base model Mini Cooper 280mm rotor and bolt it on your car as long as you have Integra or Civic EX/Si spindles. It's pretty much perfect with one slight issue. The pads sit literally a hair higher than the rotor like this
So I discovered something at work the other day. I was comparing 04-08 TSX pads with the ITR pads and they are 98% identical with 2 exceptions. First is the size of the friction material, literally a couple mm difference. Second is the tabs on the backing plate where the pad sits in the caliper bracket. They are about 3mm higher on the pad which means the pad will sit lower in the caliper bracket. That means you will get a pad that fits perfectly with the Mini Cooper rotors. Making a true no BS bolt on R upgrade with no issues with pad fitment.
This pic shows the difference in the backing plates. I measured it out to be around 3mm (2.96mm) ITR rotors are 282mm and Mini rotors are 280mm so that would mean the TSX pads would sit almost perfectly without hanging over the rotor.
This pic shows the difference in friction material size. The R pad is 1.56mm taller than the TSX.
These are the TSX pads installed in the ITR bracket with the Mini rotor.
*New info*
I just installed some Hawk HPS TSX pads on my car tonight. I drove down the road and had this awful scratching sound. Turns out the pad spring in the caliper hits the rotor with the TSX pads. It just needs to be removed. It's circled in blue in this pic I stole from Google
Now get off the fence, go to Rock Auto and order some semi loaded R calipers (includes calipers and brackets) and Mini rotors (07 base model 1.6 not supercharged and make sure they're 280mm because some cars had 276mm rotors) and then go to you favorite performance parts website and get your favorite pads in TSX fitment!!

F1Racer I understand what you're saying but not everyone has access to a mill to mill down the R caliper brackets or the ability to redrill the rotors so this is the next best thing.

Awesome info. Thanks
F1 racer, not sure why you have a problem using rotors made for a mini when it saves money on machining cost. Especially if your using a company like Centric for your rotors. I have been running this setup minus the tsx pads for 2 years on the streets, auto x, and the drag strip. My brake see braking 120-150 on a weekly basis and has done a amazing job over the 9.3" brake setup that came stock. I have yet to suffer brake fade with this setup vs the stock setup which would begin fading almost immediately.

I don't think I can even do BMW rims on a Honda, even that I'm a bit iffy about.

I gotcha. Yeah I am old school and couldn't swap a lsx into a gt35 or lsx in mustang. Motor stay with manufacturer

I remember reading this regarding the use of TSX pads as an alternative to grinding the itrs pads backing. It also mentioned using 04-05 accord ex retainer clips.

I'm about to go out and test fit them as soon as I eat breakfast. I wonder why you would need accord hardware. I guess we'll know soon enough

I have integra gsr 95 was also had around calipers from v6 accord with matching 25T accord v6 brackets... these are same part # as ITR? seems to be... just double checkin. So would work with the mini cooper 07 rotors?

ESP.net according to RockAuto, the 91-97 V6 Accord wagon and sedan use ITR calipers but the coupe uses different calipers. 03-12 V6 6 speed Accords use TSX and 04-08 auto trans TL calipers. Auto trans V6 Accords use a different caliper.
