I was told that my rear lca bushings are torn and the mechanic told me to replace the whole lca, pffff he didnt count on mt experience from HT (stupid mechanic), so I'm simply replacing the bushing and spending about $30 instead of like $150. My lca's are from blox just in case anyone might want to know

The great thing about the 96-00 Civic rear lower control arms is that they aren't very expensive brand new.
Majestic Honda sells them for about $62 each, and that's with 3 new bushings already installed.

Can anybody find me that part number for the 2 main lower control arm bushings for a 99 Civic EX. Not the compliance bushing. Estore.honda.com doesn't have it listed.

Go to the site I posted right above this ^ post. You're a couple clicks away from finding out the answer on you own, man.

Wow I just read this whole thread. Save yourselves some time and hassle and buy new LCAs. You can find the Dormans on partsgeek for under 60 dollars a piece. I found mine way back for less than 20 dollars a piece new from some company that went out of business. They've held up great. One company's rubber and steel is usually as good as the next.

Wow, good find and great contribution!

http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199...ntrol_arm.html

About $57 each and they come with the compliance bushing arm!
The only thing I question is the quality of the bushings. The OE bushings
will last a very long time as assuming that every time the through bolts
are torqued, the suspension is fully loaded.

But you must admit this tutorial is perfect for showing people how to
remove the old bushings and how easy it is w/o a press. Many people,
like myself, install poly bushings instead of the OE type.

I removed my old ones in much the same way the OP did, and I have
to say it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

any standard 90's civic/teg. I'm especially trying to match up Hardrace stuff. I know my inner matches 88-91 civics but more than that I'm not sure. It seems most of that era Honda's are very similar and I'm hoping most of the difference is in width.
My bushing (by eyeing it) looks to be right at 4cm.

Hey in the write up you said you use an impact socket. What diameter is that?

the majestic link for 96-00 civics list only the whole LCA part number, I like to confirm if the part number using the EG LCA arm bushing shown in the guide will work for a 97 EK, ie

51810-sh3-004
and
51392-sr3-024

thanks again

What size socket did you use to press the new bush in?

Thanks for the great tutorial .Dave! 10 years since your original post, and it's still helping us out!

Tom B - I see you recently posted asking about the socket sizes - I just replaced the LCA bushings on right side of my '97 Integra GSR - (still need to do the left). I used a 32mm impact socket at first because that was the first thing I had at hand (I had just used it to remove the axle nut). However, the 32mm wouldn't seat the bushings completely, so I used a 27mm (smaller bushing) and 30mm (larger bushing) to complete the work. But remember, the outer diameter of your socket may vary, so if you are going to buy one for the job, be sure to bring your bushings to the store so you can check the diameters.

Hey guys, new to the forum and sorry on reviving the old thread, but I can't seem to find an exact answer to my needs. I have a 2000 SiR and need to change the bushings from the front lower control arm, since the car is EM1 it has the 1-piece arms.

Basing myself on this image, bushings 1 and 2 are contained in Energy Suspension 16.3115 (this kit also contains the upper control arm bushings as well)
I need to know if bushing 3 (which is for the shock fork ) is the one in the Energy Suspension 16.8111 kit, since the "install instructions" from kit 16.3115 show the 2-piece arm, and state that the fork bushing bushing is from kit 16.8111. Or is the fork bushing the same on both the 1 and 2 piece arms?
