AZ guys please help!!!! emissions question
 

K. I live in Cali and thinking about a move to AZ. The laws here are getting ridiculous (see: banning black cars) and the smog laws are out of control (see: C.A.R.B., smog ref, and crushing cars for having headers). So.. My question: what are smog regulations in AZ? Sniffer? Visual? Is there an AZ version of C.A.R.B.? I read something about smogging only being mandatory in large cities? I just wanna have a turbo Honda without worrying about it being crushed. I also would like to have an after-market vacuum line without being sent to the smog ref.
I can't take the taxes.10% sales tax? Aaawnold for governor?
Lastly, I'm a Firefighter and Cali makes it nearly impossible to get a job. I have all my certs and can't find work. I give up. Getting too old to wait any longer.
I'm done with Cali.
So, anyone have info on smog laws? I'd greatly appreciate it. I tried searching but found no reliable info (using phone, as internet @ home is down).

this thread is teh fail. LOL

i've been doing research all over the net and can't find anything specific about AZ's procedures for smogging cars.

you'd think it there would be a gov't site that lists the steps and requirements. i'll keep doing some digging and post it here for ya, if i find something.

Central Valley? I used to live in Tracy. Now Tucson.

You can find the full details on the web, but since you don't have access, here are some quick bits.

- If your car is 2005 or newer, no worries. No one will check anything.

- If older, you will have it OBD check. They plug it in, no CEL = :thumbup:. As you know there are ways to fool the sensors, so you engine don't throw out the CEL.

I don't think you have a car before OBD, right?

- OBD test good for 2 years.

If you are thinking about Tucson, and you are a firefighter, check out Northwest Fire. They did hired a lot of people with the brand new main station just opened up. It's a flagship super station with training facilities, etc.
