California - ZC Engine question
So anyone have any ideas on what I am going to need to do to get this engine barred?
I just dont want to have to go through any hassle with the cops around here, first honda and ive been pulled over ohhhh 7 times?
Apparently being a 20 yearold white boy makes you look like a car theif. At least they are looking out?
Its a second gen ZC..
As for mods on the car, I have AEM Short ram, DC sport headers (both carb) HKS 2.5 exhaust (Need a cat :D) stage 2 clutch, lightened flywheel..
Car is a 1990 honda civic SI.

Re: California - ZC Engine question
you can't bar a zc dohc...get yourself a zc sohc and use it as a legal jdm replacement motor equivalent to a d16a6...no bar sticker needed...!!!

BiG ChOr!Zo, Think I could still get it smogged if I threw on a cat?
I either need to sell this car and get it off my hands or figure a way to make it not so suspicious.. Any ideas?
Sleeper exhaust already on
Not to low

Im going through the exact same thing you are. Now I havent tried to bar mine yet but i've heard of people saying that its a zc block with a b16 or d16a8/9 integra head and passing at the smog ref. (lets hope for both our sake)

Re: California - ZC Engine question
if its a zc dohc yes it will pass smog if you maintain it correctly...the problem lies if you get your hood popped and sent to the ref for inspection then you are SOL...if i was you i would sell the zc dohc and buy a zc sohc and run it as is...!!!

Re: California - ZC Engine question
So the mom and pop shops wont question the ZC and if they do, just say its a d16?
Its my DD, so I am quite sure I wont get my hood pop'd.
No reasonable cause, especially with the sleeper exhaust.
Right?
Anything I can say to an officer who wants me to pop my hood?
What for officer?
What is your reasonable suspicion?
