Import Alliance 2011: Midwest Caravan!

Five years?! I cannot believe it ever came this far. It's definitely down to the awesome community and support from fellow enthusiasts. Let's keep this journey going, and have another successful year. :)

Now, as before, below is the layout for the journey. If you would like to participate/join in, please let me know by posting here. I'll keep a tab of how many people are showing at each checkpoint, so as not to lose anyone.

IA 2011 will take place on July 16th and 17th, so we will set course the Friday before, aka. July 15th. As we arrive in Nashville we'll part ways to our respective hotels/meeting points, so make sure you are planned ahead of time for the arrival into Nashville. The Nashville Super Speedway is roughly 15 miles South East of downtown Nashville, near Smyrna. So, mark your calenders, tattoo your wrist, and do whatever it takes to make sure you're set to go this time around.

[NOTE: Make sure to look at the times closely. There is a time zone change mid-way through the journey.] (CST = -5 GMT during the Summer)

Entire Journey:
Checkpoint #1: Highway 94 and College Avenue (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)
- Arrival Time: 07:00 AM (CST) Friday, July 15th
- Departure Time: 07:30 AM (CST)
We'll be stopping at the WESTERN Park & Ride (opposite side of the highway compared to the Airport).

Checkpoint #2: Highway 65 Rest/Welcome Center (De Motte, Indiana)
- Arrival Time: 10:30 AM (CST) (11:30 AM EST)
- Departure Time: 11:00 AM (CST) (12:00 PM EST)
We'll be stopping at the Rest/Welcome Center right off of Highway 65, on the WEST side of the Highway.

Checkpoint #3: Chapeze Ln/Welcome Center (Shepherdsville, Kentucky)
- Arrival Time: 03:15 PM (CST) (04:15 PM EST)
- Departure Time: 04:00 PM (CST) (05:00 PM EST)
We'll be stopping at the Rest/Welcome Center right off of Highway 65, on the WEST side of the Highway. This is the first Rest/Welcome stop just south of the Cty Hwy 480 / Cedar Grove Road exit.

Final Arrive Time at Nashville Super Speedway: 8:00 PM (CST)


PLEASE NOTE: From the experience gained from IA '07, IA '08, IA '09, and IA 2010, I believe it is safe to assume that these times are fairly accurate (even when dealing with heavy construction). I know that not everyone will be able to pit stop at the same mileage, so feel free to drop off when necessary. I set it with 3 checkpoints for a reason. It gives a chance for those with more thirsty engines, a chance to catch breath and keep up. Feel free to throw in ideas that are worth noting, at me. I'm up for suggestion.

MAKE SURE TO PERFORM ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TO YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE SETTING OFF ON THIS JOURNEY!
Accidents can happen, and being many miles from home can make things quite tricky. So best bet is to prepare for the journey as best as possible.

MATURITY NOTE: I know that this can be a long journey, but please try and maintain a more mature driving habit. Wreck-less driving is illegal and can ruin the trip for everyone. "Driving it like you stole it" is not a mentality to have on a trip like this. There's plenty of people here who spent intense amounts of time and money on their vehicles to have them ruined by someone trying to gain attention by showing off. Know the difference between "playful" and "idiotic".

Last year, we had about 25-28 cars come from Ohio in our caravan. we PLANNED on meeting with this caravan in Kentucky... But by the looks of it, we will be past that spot long before everyone arrives. We are leaving Ohio at 10am, giving us an arrival of like 5-6pm...

Yeah, changing the times really isn't an option... due to the fact that it's such a long drive for those starting in the Northern part of the journey. :(

How many people do you think you'll be cruising with by the time you hit check point 3?

I'll be with about 9 cars plus my ek in a trailer from canada.

Yeah, I know there are a few groups going down at other times so they can enjoy a little more time in Nashville, as well. This is for people who want to be part of an enormous car "convoy". ;)


First year? You're in for a nice treat. There's really nothing to describe the sheer scale of this event, I can assure you.

Nothing is stopping you from making a slight detour North, just to see the trailing end of the caravan. :) I'm actually heading down Thursday to help with the event locally, then going to drive back up on Friday for the final leg (as long as my car doesn't have a hissy-fit like the last time I tried that). :)

Have you heard of the event? It's the largest import-related car meet in the country. Last year there was over 4,000 cars from all across the country (and even from other countries) there. There were quite a few magazine cars, as well. The scale is something I could never describe with words, I'm afraid. It's beyond enormous, and the entertainment value is definitely there.
