Import Alliance 2010: Carolina Caravan
As many of you know, IA '10 will take place on July 17th and 18th. As is usual practice, most of us will be taking off the Friday before, July 16th. As we arrive in Nashville/Lebanon we'll part ways to our respective hotels/meeting points, so make sure you plan ahead of time for the arrival into Nashville.
Now, as before, below is the layout for the journey. If you would like to participate/join in, please let me know by posting here. I'll keep a tab of how many people are showing at each checkpoint, so as not to lose anyone.

Final Arrive Time at Lebanon: 6:00 PM (EST) 5:00 PM (CST)
PLEASE NOTE: I know that not everyone will be able to pit stop at the same mileage, so feel free to drop off when necessary. The extra checkpoints are there for a reason. It gives a chance for those with more thirsty engines, a chance to catch breath and keep up. Feel free to throw in ideas that are worth noting, at me. I'm up for suggestion.
//////: MECHANICAL NOTE ://////
MAKE SURE TO PERFORM ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TO YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE SETTING OFF ON THIS JOURNEY!
Accidents can happen, and being many miles from home can make things quite tricky. So best bet is to prepare for the journey as best as possible.
MATURITY NOTE: I know that this can be a long journey, but please try and maintain a more mature driving habit. Wreckless driving is illegal and can ruin the trip for everyone. "Driving it like you stole it" is not a mentality to have on a trip like this. There's plenty of people here who spent intense amounts of time and money on their vehicles to have them ruined by someone trying to gain attention by showing off. Know the difference between "playful" and "idiotic".

Re: Import Alliance 2010: Carolina Caravan
I like this itinerary. you were asking for a suggestion for an exact location to meet at northwoods mall, i'll suggest the Belk parking lot. It is literally a straight shot from that parking lot, to I-26 west. In columbia, the sears parking lot at Columbiana Centre Mall on Harbison Blvd. is fairly easy to get to from I-26. At both of these malls, in charleston and columbia, obviously theres a lot of food places and gas stations around for whatever people need.
The one thing i'll warn anybody joining this caravan about are the road conditions in both charleston and columbia. I just moved back here to charleston from columbia, and both places have real crappy roads. definitely not slammed car friendly, but then again, what city is? hahaha
Op, any ideas on hotels nearby? Are there any hotels in specific where a lot of IA people are residing at?

Re: Import Alliance 2010: Carolina Caravan
Most people stay either in Lebanon (closest town to the Speedway, as Jimmy said), or downtown Nashville. Nashville is fun and has plenty of things to entertain, but hotels are more expensive, and the drive is a little longer. MOST people stay in Lebanon. The 'strip' there is 10/231 where it intersects I-40. This is where most of the guys/gals hang out in the evenings.
Most of the hotels were booked or close to it the last time I looked, so the sooner you book, the better.

Hoon Moto and I can start the charleston checkpoint, we all live here. Theres six of us rolling in two cars. So definitely put me down. I told the drivers that we need to follow this itinerary if we're participating, and they all agreed.
Does anybody want HDR shots of their car? If so, let me know. I can do maybe one car per checkpoint, and i'm down to do them at IA. I'm doing them free for a short time only... lol.

I40 is back open where the rock slide was so you may want to update you route(it should knock some time off your trip). For anyone in NC that is interested I have put together a caravan to IA as well. We will be passing through the Asheville area about an hour before this caravan gets there tho.

Re: Import Alliance 2010: Carolina Caravan
^The goal of our caravan was to make it to our hotel in Murfreesboro, TN(30 mins past Lebanon) by 5:00. Our hotel has a free drink happy hour from 5:00-7:30 that many of my caravan people want to take advanage of(it does not matter to me since I don't drink). I do like our current time line because we will be avoiding most of the friday afternoon traffic by travling through Knoxville before 3pm.

hmm... does anybody else wanna try and merge caravans? it might be hard for some of us to change it up, even for just an hour, but if everybody's down, me and my boys are down.

If it's cool with these HT guys, we can bump the trip 30 min earlier so the Chas guys leave at 7 which would give us an hour break in Asheville. I'll go ahead and adjust the times again to reflect that. If anyone has a problem meeting those times, let me know.
Take a look over the new times and see if that works for you guys.

Re: Import Alliance 2010: Carolina Caravan
works for all of us at charleston, that'd be awesome if we can merge with more people. as long as everybody else is cool with the time change too.
btw for you cola guys... i wont be driving my car, but i moved up there from charleston for a little less than a year. i just recently moved back to charleston. while there, i was rolling around in a white dc2 gsr, black racing pro n1's (in black), black hood, had a red bucket with a sparco harness, and a sticker on the windshield that says 'Fuc*ing Classy.' but the sticker wasnt censored.. haha. so if you've seen that car, thats me!
i also wanted to ask... are any of you guys going to any of the local car meets or know anything about those meets? i'd like to take FULL advantage of nashville and the surrounding area while we're there.
once again for those who would like them, i'm willing to do hdr shots of anybody's cars for free for a short time. i can do them at import alliance after i've covered all the cars i need to. if interested, let me know ahead of time so that we can trade numbers or something so we can meet at the meet... lol.

but for meeting up at sears will be pretty much perfect as long as it ok with the mall security..they are usually a little strict to be honest.
