High Speed Stability?
I just had a question.
My car seems like it's very, very twitchy at high speeds. (70-100mph) The faster I go the more twitchy it is. It's like every minute action of the steering wheel is multiplied. It's to the point where it scares me. Then again, I might just be a wuss.
But here is a quick run down of the car.
2001 Integra Type R with approximately 34,000 miles.
Factory suspension with JDM rear strut bar.
Pirelli P700-z Tires 205/50/15 with approximately 1/2 tire life left.
33psi tire pressure(hot is around 34-36psi) all around.
This car has been involved in an accident before, but I was guaranteed that it was only a cosmetic accident.
Thanks everyone,
len

1. get your tires properly balanced, if its not, the car will feel unstable,
2. your tires are too wide for factory wheels, 205 are much better on 7"
3. could be the wear of the tires..

2. I am aware that that might be the cause. The wheel/tire combo isn't changing until I can afford the wheels and tires I want.
3. That's a good point. The tread seems like it's waved and not a smooth even wear pattern.
The alignment may be wrong too, or maybe a suspension peice has broken. Mine feels fine at 145. Grandit I dont turn the steering wheel much at that speed.

You've already received some comments that are good.
To summarise....
You've done a number of things that will cause your car to react differently from stock at high speeds or high-G.
Stock suspension with JDM rear bar: oversteer and/or twitchy
205 section tyres will add to that, just a little
Equalising the tyre pressure at all four corners instead of following the factory recommendation of having more pressure up front: oversteer and/or twitchy
Add to this the possibility that you might've thrown the alignment out a bit, and you might have a car that's darned twitchy at speed.

I'm betting that an alignment will help you out.

alignment isn't needed or is it?

my money would be on balanced tires/alignment

I definetly prefer not having power steering, on the bumpy roads at high speeds the PS was terrible, without it feels more solid for some reason and feel more in controll.

The extra room around that area might help also.
