Default The Tru Shine NSX build thread

What's up everyone,

I Figured I would go ahead and start a build thread and show what all I have done to the car so far. I know it will be a long time before I finish everything for the final detail write up. I still have a lot of work left to do and the weather is to cold outside right now to do anything to the car.

The way the car sits in the pictures is the way that I purchased the car. This will be a slow build, but you gotta start somewhere.

We will start off with getting the car up to par.

With this car being 20 years old, there are a few "typical" things that have to be replaced every 20 or so years lol.

I drove the car down to Murfreesboro TN while I was on a detail trip and had my good friend Kris (AutoxDC2). and TurboDave take the car and give it a good thorough inspection, put it up on the lift, check the suspension, frame, motor... ect. While they had the car, I informed them about a couple of small electrical issues that I was having.

So they had my car for a good week ordering all the OEM Honda replacement parts and getting everything taken apart and put back together.

New OEM parts that were replaced:
Driver Rear hub bearing
Driver Inner & Outer Tie Rods
Passenger Inner & Outer Tie Rods
New Brakes and Rotors All 4 Corners
New Rubber up front
+ Alignment done by the Best in the Biz (RX7Vinnie of Vin-Auto)

New OEM Oil pressure Gauge + Oil pressure sending unit
New OEM Vehicle Speed Sensor

I think that is all....

here are a few pics from that week.(Sorry for the Crappy Cell phone pics)

A big thanks to Kris P. and TurboDave & Crew for fully going through my car inside and out an making sure all harnesses were good and everything was up to par while I was busy working.

They had all panels, seats, carpet.... everything removed, checking for little wiring grimlins.

Current list of Mods from previous owner:

Injen Intake
Remus Exhaust
Type R CF replica rear wing
(Lame) 17/18" Liquid Metal wheels (soon to be replaced)

After that, I finally had a chance to work some magic on it.

Here are a few pics from before the paint correction.

Acid rain etching on the Windows

So first I pre-rinse the car removing and of the heavy/loose debris

Then she gets a good Foam bath

Then Rinsed

Next I pulled the car for claying and prepping.

in this picture, you can see white overspray all over the entire car

here I am using the Clay magic blue fine clay to remove it

Here you can see a 50/50 of the overspray coming off

and here it is 98% removed

Next I pulled out the FLEX 3401 and LC Cyan pad w/ M105 and finished up with 205/tang pad

Here is a Before and after of the pass door.

and the final outcome

and here is the rear quarter panel B&A

That's all I have for you right now.

Next thing I will be doing is Removing all the wheels and acid washing and degreasing all of the Aluminum Suspension parts and Polishing out all the Glass to remove the Acid rain etching.

Stay Tuned........................

No, the 105= Meguiars M105 cutting compound (The best compound on the market IMO)
and the 205= Meguiars M205 ultimate polish (Also amazing stuff)

well I had something happen the first day I bought the car, I was simply driving through my parking lot on the way to work, and the NSX just cuts off on me. So the first thing I did was get on NSXprime and search for similar issues. after looking for a bit, I assumed it was my Main relay, but after fixing that, It still wasn't starting (only cranking) so then I checked to see if the engine was even getting fuel and it wasn't. no fuel was going into the fuel rain from the filter. so at that point i had it towed to a local shop and long story short, he got it running but I had no oil pressure gauge, speedometer, vtec. so all of that was working when I bought the car, and after he gets done with it, none of those were working.

so my good friends down in NAshville took a look at it and figured out my oil pressure guage was broken and my speed sensor was melted and toasted. Not sure how that happend but either way, everything is completely running and working now (Except my Climate control unit and that will be getting shipped out to BrianK soon)

lol there is someone bragging about owning an nsx. Cough (exgr)

Frikin awesome job. Now all I need to buy is a buffer. lol Will any kind of buffer brand or type do the job? or it has to be specific to get your result? I am not sure if my buffer is the problem or is it just me. Do you use the same technique with the carbon material?

Also. thank you for treating piece of history with care. So some day I can buy one (after the kids grows up), instead of getting the crummy ones, now I can expect and knowing there is someone out there that care for the nsx.

You should see the terrible things my neighbor do to their nsx, I get it is their car, but wow mistreated.
