Default Is there such a thing as a "quiet" wastegate?

Does anyone know of a wastegate that is quieter then the tial 38mm? I would rather here my turbo spooling than hear all the loud exhaust coming from my dump pipe... No internal either, gotta be external...

thanks!!!

Consider plumbing the dumptube into the exhaust system downstream of the o2 sensor? That should help.

its not the wastegate that's making the noise, its your exhaust leaving it....i'm sure there's a better and quieter way to release the exhaust, but i really think you should take the above advice......that would be the best solution i think!!

yeah i don't like the sound of mine either. i might have to tube it into the dp. but does it have to be after the o2 sensor? i'm wondering if it could effect tune if it's before the o2?

it doesnt matter if its after or before the o2 at all. Its the same exact exhasut that goes out your exhaust.

will this take away any power? i read somewhere that if you plumb it back in you lose around 30 hp??? I seriously doubt it's that much, if any. For those of you that do have it plumbed back in, is it quiet enough to hear the turbo all the way up to full boost?

I've seen some domestic guys put a little lawn mower mufflers on the ends of wastegate dump tube to quiet the outgoing exhaust. If i was'nt going to recycle the gas, I was acutally thinking of doing it that way. I know you guys will like that one.

if you were going to have a closed loop dumptube, how far away from the turbo would someone recommend placing tube into the down pipe? also to any one that has done it, do you have pics you wouldn't mind posting up?

fullrace did some test and found that its best to dump underneath the oilpan so i would assume that is also the best place to merge it into the downpipe/exhaust

i have considered doing this on my turbo setup. defintley makes the car more quite in boost. now if onnly you could run a stock airbox with the BOV plumbed into it.

if you don't want a BOV sound, buy a recirculation valve(diverter valve) the audi/vw guys(as well as others) use em, they function the same, reliable, decent looking.

all you would have to do is attach it to your charge piping, and route a tube into your intake somewhere(non charged side of course). hell you can do it with some BOVs like the greddy type s for one.

Just slash cut the dump tube and it should make it quieter.

ill have to find the magazine but a couple years back, someone just ran the dumptube to the right of the motor and welded a yoshimura motorcycle exhaust to the end of it. the chrome tip came out of the fender right in front of the left front wheel. it looked pretty cool, except you have to cut your bumper. was supposedly really quiet too

seems like it would be easier just to dump it back into the downpipe...
