right now i have a b16 in my eg and i bent the valves in the 1st cylinder, should i get them redone which will be about 300$ OR trade stright up for a complete y8 turbo??
i want it to be reliable, but then if i swap i have to pay nothing at all, BUT then i still want it fast....arrg to much to think of SOME 1 HELP ME OUT!!

the y8 will be faster if you cannot afford the turbo for the b16...BUT be carefull buying/trading an engine that is already been boosted..

for what reason? b16s are SLOW
In all seriousness the y8 will be faster than the stock b16 on my first turbo setup i was only running 7psi and 187whp and i walked my friends b16 eg coupe like nothing else, needless to say he is trying to get a turbo setup together now. The only reason to keep the b16 would be in case you wanted to turbo it later. But imo it sounds like a good trade if the turbo parts are good quality

I say expletive it all and just buy a ls block. You already have everything for a b-series. Fix the head and throw that on...maybe later on boost the lsvtec.
Check out the stock block lsvtec in the all motor section, people have some pretty decent ones.

The only reason you would have "problems" with a turbo setup is if its slapped together or you don't get it tuned correctly. Correctly setup and tuned, a turbo setup can, and will be, just as reliable as an NA setup. The Y8 even without the turbo only has a FEW lbft of torque less then the B16. Honestly, having owned both, the Z6/Y8 engine feels better to drive around town due to torque peaking sooner over the B16. Boost the Y8 and its going to be no comparison.
