Wire harness in EK swap
I noticed if the wires coming right out of the ecu are touched or moved even a slight amount the car starts to die down depending on how much the wires are messed with. I know obviously you dont want to mess with wires while the cars on however its much more sensitive than it should be. Im concerned this could have something to do with a lot of my engine issues ive been having lately. im wondering if rewiring is doable (although im sure its tedious) and where can i get good info on how to rewire everything, or if i should get a whole new harness. I have a GSR in a 96 EK hatchback. I have S300 and i have a conversion kit for the wires. I believe the wires match up to a d16 computer with or without the conversion so im wondering if any harness that has vtec will work or if it needs to be more specific than that. And also is there anyway to tell exactly what harness is in the car right now?

Any harness with vtec will work. You most likely have the harness that originally came with the car. I don't think any of the USDM 6th gen Civic EKs came with any version of a vtec engine, but I could be wrong about that. Vtec would have had to be wired in. You can get on eBay and find a used engine harness for a decent price, or find one in a junk yard. Or you can have a custom harness made, but that is going to be a bit pricey. If you are going to buy a used harness, I would look for a '96-00 Civic Ex or Si harness. Everything should plug right in to the GSR engine.
