Something electrical.
ok so i have a 90 crx that i have basically built back to brand new as fas as the drivetrain goes. However i cant get the car to turn over now. It would crank every now and then and it got so spotty to the point where it wont turn over at all now. What are some of the first main things i need to check? I really love this car and would love to see it back on the road for good!!!! When i turn the key over the starter only clicks.

Is it only one click coming out the starter? If it is try testing the battery or have someone tap the starter whileyou try to crank the car

This sounds like poor grounding could be the issue. Do you have all of the grounds connected well? Are any of the ground straps/cables corroded at the connection, or swelling with corrosion under the insulation?
It could also be a bad battery. My experience is that batteries can wear prematurely if the grounding is poor. What is the battery voltage with the car off? What does the voltage dip to when cranking? What is the battery voltage when running? Does a jump from another car improve the ability to start?

Ok so it’s only one click. The starter is brand new. I also tried three new starters to make sure. Not exactly sure what all the grounding locations were. Can you refresh my memory? The battery is also brand new. Adding more juice use to help every once in a while but not now. Isn’t there some relays that would cause these same symptoms?

Look for wires (usually Black) that run into bolts that thread into the Chasis. Those are your main grounds. But you might also want to check the voltage running to and from your starter. You might have a short or an open in the harness running to it.
The Relay you're referring to is your Main Relay. I'm not sure the location in your car but the one in my '99 Civic Ex is under the furthest passenger side A/C vent. Find yours and try to start the car while touching it. If you hear/feel a click its fine. If not test it with a DMM or a Relay Checker.

I'm guessing your thinking of the main relay, but if I remember right the starter doesn't engage when it is bad. Sorry, been a long time since I've dealt with a bad one.
The easiest way to check for the main relay is to have someone near the gas tank when it's not starting and listen for the fuel pump to prime. If it does nothing there's a good chance that's your problem.
