CRV motor fro Japan change to USA oil pump
hello,my 2000 Honda CRV motor is bad.i found a good deal on a motor that came from Japan, every thing look good, has very low miles.
in the seller detail for the engine it state "NOTE: MUST CHANGE TO A US OIL PUMP FOR CRANK SENSOR PURPOSES OR DO A CRANK SENSOR BYPASS THROUGH THE WIRING.
my question are..do i need to change the oil pump for USA CRV? the change cost much like part and lavor?.i am trying to find information i buy the motor.
thanks for any help

Why not go back to the seller and ask him to clarify what he means!! It could be something quite simple to with their emission standards within their territory.

Re: CRV motor fro Japan change to USA oil pump
looks like the Japanese Honda CRV engine do not have the crank sensor in the oil pump, and the same Vehicle USA version does have the Crankshaft Speed Fluctuation in the oil pump.my CRV is USA version and the engine i am buying is from Japan.so i got 2 options,1-get an oil pump USA version plus labor or 2-do a bypass of the wire in the ECU..i found the instruction for the bypass and look not hard to do.i was just wondering if anyone else had done this.

Ran into the same problem with my swap. After I had the motor installed and hooking up wiring. I just used the pump from my old engine .Not a hard swap at all.
