2004 civic hybrid oil leaking from Aluminium lipped cover
1.3 petrol engine has been leaking oil onto tarmac.
I removed the filthy 'aerodynamic' under tray plastic and noticed the leak coming from the Aluminium cover that is held by 2x 10mm bolts. The thin plate hasn't any gasket, and has a lip pressed into it as if any fluids are meant to drip out of there(then onto the undertray and eventually onto the ground below).
The position of this lipped cover is directly beneath the elecric motor, and I'm worried that something like a crankshaft seal has gone, and is transferring engine oil into the motor, which is rejecting it to the drip cover below.
I really haven't the inclination or £ to have the entire engine/motor/gearbox taken apart looking for the source of the leak.
Instead I was going to gambol using a tin of Wynn's engine stop leak, to hopefully rejuvenate the faulty seal and save me a lot of bother.
Has anyone else experienced the trouble I'm having with my hybrid?
the mileage is 145k. I gave it an oil change whilst investigating the faut, and shall be driving it 20 miles tomorrow, inspecting for leaks when I'm parked up ( I haven't replaced the plastic cover, and won't yet until I've solved the oil leak)
Look forward to any advice
Peter

Anyone out there got any ideas?
I like the car, it's comfortable, well built and economical, but shall scrap it if the leak persists
