No vtec, new swap

We just did h22 swap for my brother civic. It has 5 speed with p28 chipped ecu/h22 basemap. We started the car and let it idle until fully warm up. Then we took it for a run but no vtec!!! I made sure that everything is ok. We have oil pressure because i installed an oil pressure gauge. Oil level is ok, no leaks and no cels. i connected A4 to D6 but nothing. I tested the continuity of the solenoid with ground it has continuity. Then i ran a wire from the battery,another wire from the solenoid and let my brother touch them together at 5500rpm and vtec worked. Does that lead to a bad ecu??

Check the wire from the solenoid to the ecu plug, make sure it's not broken. Maybe vtec was accidentally disabled in the ecu? But I would check for continuity with the harness to ecu

Why would you connect A4 to D6 ??? A4 is the single wire for the VTEC solenoid. D6 goes to one of the two wires at the VTEC pressure switch... the other wire from that plug goes to the ground at the thermostat housing. If your wiring is clean and proper as suggested above, you either have a bad ECU or a bad chip/program. It never hurts to try a known good ECU just once to see if VTEC will "pop".

i already checked it and I try to run new wire from the solenoid to the ecu. I also checked the continuity

Possibly another sensor that is faulty or not getting the proper signal to ecu. There are parameters for TPS, VSS, ECT, RPM etc that must be met for it to engage vtec.

CEL is irrelevant. TPS, VSS, or ECT could be not reading properly and you would still not get a CEL. Have to check voltage at the ecu for each.

I think I found the culprit. The guy who chipped the ecu I think he missed the Q26. Anyone have p28 ecu to confirm? I am attaching a photo

What board version number do you have (like 1720 or 1980) ???

Just wanna let you know guy problem solved because of the missing Q26 Transistor. So if anyone encounter any issue with vtec and he checked oil,vtec related sensor ect, vps and vtec soleniod you have to check all the vtec components at the ecu board.

ECU is P28. The guy how chipped it moved Q26 to Q28 not sure why but after searching online i found that the correct place for the vtec transistor D1423 is Q26 for the 1720 boards.
