It is easy to replace the unit yourself; but, it will still need to be re-programmed by a shop due to the Immobilizer System.

Ok. Thank you very much. By chance can you tell me where to look for the part of the car and what kind of pricing I should expect to program?

The ECM/PCM is in the engine bay, next to the car battery.

You can get a used ECM/PCM from ebay, salvage yard, etc. But, make sure it matches your car for number of cylinders, transmission type, etc.

Costs will depend on shop. Actually programming will be more than just for the Immobilizer System, the VIN has to be entered, and old maintenance minder data transferred (if old ECM/PCM is readable and if that matters to you), certain things reset, etc. Dealer may possibly be the best choice depending on the shop equipment and software.

The key programmer can be had for $100 off ebay or amazon. Usually that is cheaper than having even 1 key programmed by the dealer.
