EM1 alarm system removal
Hello all I am needing some help getting the rats nest under my dash figured out... I have no idea what kind of alarm system it had, but it has never worked in the 8 years that I have owned the car. Today I was working under the dash on my cruise control wiring and decided today was the day to pull all the alarm system wiring out of the car. Now I have got a bunch of the wiring out already but there's still some more that I'm not sure if its part of the alarm or if its factory. Here's a couple pics of what I'm dealing with.

Ok I have done more cutting and splicing wires. I'm getting to the end now! I have 3 plug-ins that I need help with. As it sits right now, the car won't crank. Fuel pump primes and everything comes on when I turn the key on but it won't crank

Those excessively long wires that don't have any sleeving or tape are aftermarket. The starter is activated by a large wire from the key switch, black with a white stripe. Aftermarket alarms usually cut that wire and put a relay in line to prevent starting if the alarm is triggered. Also note that the stock system has a clutch switch / relay to interlock the starter on a manual or a neutral switch on the shift lever if automatic.

Good info. Thank you for that. I eliminated all those wires and spliced them back together. It is a manual trans and the car has always started without pushing in the clutch. Maybe my clutch switch is bad? How do I test it? I tried bump starting the car and it fired right up and runs good. Just can't get the starter to engage

Ok guys I got it fixed! Turned out to be a loose crimp connector buried under the dash. Now everything works as it should including the clutch safety switch. Now I gotta get back to my original problem of the cruise control!
