Also i plan on keeping her my daily, the stock y7 isnt doing too good at the moment, been leaking oil and now its making a strange noise i dont think its a knock i think its the oil pump but i havnt driven it since the oil light comes on at idle, and not too sure but im hoping the built motor will run fine on a phearable premium base map just until i get the turbo kit then a real tune. Any advice is definitely welcomed, this is my first build but i would like it to come out right and be a solid reliable motor

Well thats all for now, i kno it isnt any thing really unique but anybody chime in if you like! lol I'd love a few suggestions on what turbo's would work well for this y8 trying to reach 400whp

Hell yeah i think its gonna b pretty cool when its all done lol

I went and picked up a used turbo kit.. Still a little unsure what i really wanna do but my temporary goal with this kit is 300hp i dont rlly think it can do it but ill see haha and if it all goes well ill prolly run it for a year at most, it is a rev9 d series kit, made by godspeed from what i understand, so basically an ebay kit but the stuff looks pretty solid and seems to be in good shape still, and its a complete kit minus oil return line, and 3 t-clamps, so for $300 i didnt think it was a bad deal just to get into the boost game lol

anybody have any opinions on the rev9 turbo?? Is it decent at least, the kits go for bout a grand from what ive seen, dont kno what its spose to b good for power wise but being in the 2's will b nice, and the sound of the bov, other than that not expecting much

bust thing i can advise is to use the advanced search function and search in the forced induction section for rev9 and see what pops up me personally im im taking the much slower rout and just gonna save up for a go auto works kit

Yeah i hear ya i still plan on saving up for a quality kit like i said in the post i might run this kit for a year at most, my goal is still 400whp reliably and thats definitely not gonna happen with this rev9 kit, kind of a temporary bench mark it is my first build as well so i guess i can work out any kinks etc over the next year if the lil turbo last that long. Jus didnt seem like a horrible idea since ive wanted to boost for so long, i only wish i couldve found this kit earlier i wouldve thrown it on my stock y7, that wouldnt have ended well tho lmfao

i had thought about going that route as well but i have decided against for the simple fact that after weighing the advantages versus the disadvantages yes it would be nice to have my motor under boost but at the same time its not worth running the risk that something will fail having to do with the ebay kit and grenading the engine that i have invested money in. So in that respect im just gonna collect parts and do it right the first time i mean look at it this way you have already waited this long to to build it and boost it whats a little bit longer to buy a quality kit

I've seen a few online that were broken but ive also seen more ppl say they're just fine, have you seen them fail a lot personally? I'm just curious because I was a little worried about it but not too much.. Just going to just torque all the bolts to spec and cross my fingers.. it does look skinny as hell, I don't understand why they didn't make them just a little beefier.

And about the turbo kit, im just going to keep my options open, but I definitely won't be in a rush to put the kit on since I'm doing the swap at school and that's just too much. The class isnt really meant to teach aftermarket upgrades..

My plan right now is to look out for a wideband guage, if my motor runs good enough on the basemap without any boost it's gonna stay that way for a while, maybe even long enough to where I do get the kit I plan on using to make the power I want..

I know very well enough about china chargers not being reliable, but at most I'm going to run maybe around 8psi, or whatever spring is already in there. But im not going to thro a cheap turbo kit on an expect miracles or that my goal can be met with this kit.

All I'm doing is possibly use it temporarily at a low boost setting and easy driving, checking it every chance, allowing it to cool properly, not beating the **** out of it, etc..

Also it was a semi custom kit sold by a local shop, I dont think it would be too bad using this temporarily while I get everything else set up like all my guages, do some chassis maintenance, other things that may need upgrades to daily 400whp..

92_civic_eg my friend, my apologies, but I just had to fix some of that grammar... It was just giving me migraines just trying to decipher what your point was.

After 2 attempts to read it, I then knew I was not the only one with difficulty understanding your point. No offense intended, but my word, please try a little harder next time when expressing your thoughts clearly.

I'm sure you'll eventually get your build the way you want it, in time.

TIA.

You should be careful about assuming that the wastegate has a 8lb spring in it. There are actually a lot of ebay selling that ship them with 14lb springs inside.

Just putting it out there. LBS is not the same as PSI.

I know what you're getting at, but it's imperative to state the correct measure, please. Carry on, sir ;-)

Oh alright no problem, sorry about that i jus get a little lazy on the computer..

So should i worry about my cam gear or no? And yeah i should check what wastegate spring it is, that not a problem

Still not decided what turbo to go with, i'm on the lookout for a wideband guage. And a Tial wastegate because then I would feel a little better about running the cheap kit

So i was thinking n remembered i had a couple of older pictures i could post of my car and collecting a few parts so here they are..

When i got some new wheels, F1r not sure what model 15x8 0 offset with new toyo proxes, i like how they poke out a little

Well then needed some stiffer coils the ride of cut springs sucks lol got these Truharts 1 piece for a good deal..

Working on it in school, just did some new ceramic pads bcuz the cheapo ones that came on it made my front wheels ugly evry 3 days lol

Nice clean head

And thats all for now just trying to keep it more interesting incase anybody happens to take a look

Nice, how much power are you making at what psi and when does it reach full boost? I was definitely considering a holset because of the price point and seems hx35's are pretty easy to find tho i was thinking maybe an hy35 for faster spool, But how do you like that setup?

Now I use 09 bar ,4700 full boost little late for me,
Cylinder head stock cam no spring no,
Rev limit 7800
Your cylinder head not stock cam spring Valve perfect

Oh hell yeah tho, I hear you 4700 would be a little late, i am hoping to spool a little faster, this lil 50 trim turbo i have would actually be a decent size for this motor and im kind of leaning towards giving it a try while keeping an eye on it so that hopefully i can catch any possible issues before they become problems since it is a cheap/lower quality kit..
