Re: Supertech valvetrain for boost

A lot of the 900+hp guys in my state run all Supertech everything with zero issues.
The one thing I'll say though that most people don't think about, is Titanium retainers do wear. Almost all...

Re: H22a4, resurfacing of block, do I need thicker head gasket?

If Cometic makes a 0.036" gasket, then yeah you could go that route. But it's not necessary

Re: H22a4, resurfacing of block, do I need thicker head gasket?

0.002" is next to nothing. No you will not need to use a thicker head gasket. HG thicknesses are usually in 0.010" or 0.015" increments anyway, so the next size thicker would be MUCH thicker than the...

Re: ATI RACE DAMPER

When parts say "race only" they mean race only. This is a big pet peeve of mine. Like when people buy titanium valve retainers for a street car and continue to wonder why they keep dropping valves...

Re: Thoughts, Opinions, Input, on extreme carbon build-up on this setup

More often than not, you won't ever see any signs of where the HG was leaking if coolant gets into the oil, but not into the cylinders. Especially if you took it apart very soon after it first...

Re: What are people using for "Filling" motor mounts?

3M Window Weld is what I always use. I've tried many other things, and nothing has ever worked as well as the window weld. And yes, it does hold up just fine to heat. the only trick is you need to...

Re: Thoughts, Opinions, Input, on extreme carbon build-up on this setup

That's actually very normal buildup for when it runs a hair rich and ignition timing is retarded. Ideal timing will typically keep the pistons fairly clean at all times no matter how much oil it...

Re: hondata s300 issues

The first sentence is true.

The second sentence, not so much. I refurbish v1 s300 boards using genuine OEM components for only 1/5 the price of a new v3, with warranty. PM me for details. And it...

Re: Metal flake in coolant...

Flakes in the coolant can be from a large number of things. A cheap radiator is the highest possibility of the source. Flush it, fill it, send it.

Re: RockAuto "Re-Ring" Kit...DOES IT SUCK?

EngineTech is low quality. Very low quality.
Sealed Power is good.

Re: connecting rod question

just give the rods to the machine shop. they can mic them and see of they need re-sizing, which is fairly inexpensive. As long as there's no easily visible damage to the big end bore, they can...

Re: d16y8 iac removal/cutoff

^this^
You don't want to get rid of the IACV. It's the only thing that controls idle speed

Re: H22 rocker arms mixed up

yes you can still re-use them. You can not re-surface them though. If they have obvious wear to where you wouldn't want to use them in their current condition, toss em in the trash and buy brand new

Re: Limp mode but no CEL

limp mode with no codes usually means code 0, which means bad ecu. No codes is different than code 0 though.
To test for code zero, just check the codes the normal way by jumping the service...

I like Hawk pads myself. and as Aradin said above, Quality blank rotors are better than ANY type of cheap rotor.

Re: THERMOSTAT...YES, THERMOSTAT *SOLVED*

if you had set the ignition timing correctly while the cam was retarded, ignition timing would be spot on and only mechanical timing would have been retarded. Just FYI. Unless the cam timing changed...

Re: F23 crankshaft flywheel locator pin.

the weight of that pin that close to center of the rotating point will have no effect on the balance, no matter what rpm you could spin it to. We're talking the equivalent of hundredths of a gram on...

Re: F23 crankshaft flywheel locator pin.

No it won't throw the balance off. Just make sure the hole in the flywheel is positioned where the pin is supposed to be. All the pin is for is making sure the flywheel is clocked correctly for the...

Re: GT35R to GTX35R - Made Less Power w/ Better Turbo

Have you checked for exhaust leaks before the turbo? Everything you described can happen if there's an exhaust leak anywhere on the manifold.
Where did you buy the turbo from? How sure are you that...

re: THERMOSTAT...YES, THERMOSTAT *SOLVED*

new thermostat, and removed intercooler, and still overheated. That too tells me there's a blockage somewhere, or a lack of flow from something.
Before you pull the head; take the water pump off and...

Re: Ls trans rebuild to lsd with carbon syncros

x2

0.04mm is enough to alter some things in a trans. 0.4mm is enough to cause catastrophic failure almost immediately. 4mm is, well, as JRCivic1 said, impossible.
Shifting an un-spun freshly...
