Re: gstrudler's 2.3L stroked h22 SH 87x97 build

Wow, can't believe it's been almost 5 YEARS since I posted in this thread (and even longer since I started this whole project). Finally got the car on a dyno to get a final tune before I sell it off;...

Re: 1997 Prelude dies only on the freeway

Posted this in my other thread, but cross-posting here as well:

Just to update in case someone else runs into this weird issue. I can't say it's conclusive for sure since I don't drive the car...

Re: eManage Ultimate gurus? Fuel cut?

Just to update in case someone else runs into this weird issue. I can't say it's conclusive for sure since I don't drive the car much anymore, but it did appear to be a problem with the EMU. Not only...

Re: eManage Ultimate gurus? Fuel cut?

Well just talked with M&W and as somewhat expected, the tach output is driven by the sum of all the inputs. Given the fact that the tach keeps functioning normally when the motor dies, that makes it...

Re: eManage Ultimate gurus? Fuel cut?

I finally got it back out again (got a new car, so this has been on the back-burner a little bit) with a fuel pressure gauge extended to where I could see it and datalogging both OBD2 and the eManage...

Re: eManage Ultimate gurus? Fuel cut?

And for clarification for those not familiar with eManage Ultimate, it is driving the fuel injectors and the CDI directly. ECU injector outputs -> eManage -> injectors. ECU ignition output -> eManage...

Re: 1997 Prelude dies only on the freeway

Are you saying you think the cylinder position sensor (CYP) is bad? I'm completely bypassing the ignitor (eManage to CDI), so I know it's not the issue (I had plenty of problems with it before I...

eManage Ultimate gurus? Fuel cut?

Any eMange Ultimate gurus out there know if something would cause it to go into fuel cut, like loss of a sensor? I'm having an issue with random freeway stalling and trying to figure out if the EMU...

1997 Prelude dies only on the freeway

Hoping some of the gurus and masterminds around here might be able to help figure this one out...

Strange problem the past few weeks: car dies only on the freeway after cruising for 15-25 minutes...

Re: Stolen vehicle recovered, now car won't start

What year/model car and how was it running before? Can you turn the engine over by hand using the crank pulley bolt?

Hate to say it, but if someone stole it, it smells under the hood like...

Re: oil catch can or breather or breather catch can?

How modified is the motor? For stock/stock-ish motors, a catch can installed on the PCV line did well for me and definitely trapped some oil.

My motor is now high comp and long stroke and that's...

Re: 2001 honda prelude cel disappears

ATTS light always comes on with the CEL light.

If you pulled the battery cable while you were working and/or pulled the ECU fuse, that would have cleared the CEL.

Re: 97 h22a4 base prelude manual ECU issues plz help

This. You can't just swap ECU's on a Prelude. You need the matching immobilizer unit and matching keys. There are reportedly some locksmiths that can bypass or reprogram the ECU however.

Re: Honda prelude sh supercharger engine management choice

eManage Ultimate will be the easiest choice to keep your ATTS and is what came with the JR kit. How are you running a s/c with no tuning??

I'm currently running it n/a and it works well. Ratty,...

Re: 99 prelude

Decide what it is you are wanting out of your car. If you want it to look good, drop it and get rims. You'll have to do tires at some point, so you might as well start saving for those. If you're not...

Re: Any help will be appreciated

Was it ok when it was first installed? If so, then it's not the pressure plate being too far away; it doesn't just slip out. Irregardless you're dropping the tranny and doing a clutch job.

Re: Tri y or megaphone header

^ +1

4-2-1 and megaphone are not exclusive.

If you're talking about 4-1 vs 4-2-1 with designs being equal (as in same proficient manufacturer, not x company vs y company), then basically 4-1...

Re: Is an aftermarket throttle body and IM overkill?

AEBS (who makes that manifold) has been reputable in the past, but their marketing claims are BS; no manifold put on a stock ITR motor is making 15-20 hp gains from 3k-8k like they claim. The design...

Re: h22a1 scratched wall. could I hone it and save it?

You could probably hone and go oversized on that one piston and get away with it, but it depends on how deep the scratch is. You'll also have to search around your area for a shop that can actually...

Re: muffler choices.

OP if you want quiet, don't get 3", end of story. Motor and all sorts of variables will play into the tone and volume of the exhaust though. Several civic (B-series) guys on here have said they can...

Re: Question about fans

Sorry, didn't look at the OP's signature. On the 5th gen's, pretty sure the A/C condenser fan only runs when the A/C is on, but that's obviously different for you 4th gen guys.

Re: Question about fans

I would have expected the other way around actually. The driver-side fan is only for the A/C and should only come on when the A/C is on. The passenger side fan is for radiator cooling. If the car was...

Re: H22 pistons and rods

B is not the .25mm oversize, but it is slightly bigger than the A. I would strongly suggest you get the 87.25mm and get the cylinders honed. The FRM walls are known to go out of round, and especially...
