Kar-King.com out of California
I encourage everyone to stay clear of purchasing any rebuilt motor from Kar-King.com, this company is located in California. I have had nothing but problems with the rebuilt 1.6L vtec motor that I purchased from them.
Here is what they say they do on their website.
What Kar King does to all rebuilt engines:
complete engine disassembly
(pistons, rings, bearings, timing chains, plugs and other parts are discarded)
thermal and or chemical cleaning
(engine block, cylinder heads, cranks, cams)
engine block crack inspection
(Visual and/or Magnaflux)
crankshaft reconditioning
(Grinding and Micro Polishing)
boring and honing of cylinders
connecting rods are inspected and replaced with new or rebuilt ones as required
block resurfacing as required
assembly to precision OEM Specs
in-house remanufacturing of cylinder heads
new or remanufactured rocker arm assembly
Parts replaced in all Kar King rebuilt engines:
new main and connecting rod bearings
new pistons and wrist pins
new piston rings
new cam bearings
new timing components
new freeze plugs
new or rebuilt oil pump
gaskets – full set
Now, the motor I purchased from them cost me $1300 and came with a 6 month unlimited mileage warranty.
Since purchasing and having this motor installed I have had to replace:
Rear main seal
VTEC gaskets
Thermostat
and as of just last week, the motor has started consuming at least a quart of antifreeze every 5 days. I took it to a garage to have it pressure tested and as I suspected, it is losing pressure. The cylinder head will be taken off soon to see if the head gasket is bad, or if the cylinder head is warped or cracked in any way.
This motor has less than 30,000 miles on it.
I encourage everyone to stay away from the Kar-King company.
