Default What tires to run for a Hyperdrive????

So I'm going to be running my car through probably at least 2x Hyperdrive sessions at VIR in the coming weeks and I want to enjoy my time on the track. My current setup is geared towards drag racing. 500whp DC2 with 205/50/15's nitto neo gens. Will my current tires suffice or would stepping up to at least a 225/50/15 up front help with handling and mostly traction??? Car has boost by gear so it hooks fairly well just have no idea how the car will handle in a road race situation. Suspension is old Omni Power Coils 10k F 12k R, dampening set to soft all around. I know hyperdrives aren't ***** to the wall like HPDE so maybe an aggressive tire like a 225/50/15 or 225/45/15 Toyo R888 isn't needed???? Really wanted to run R888's up front at least to keep for drag racing as they have been praised to put down big power no problem, but run a staggered setup for track days with 225's F and 205's in the rear would induce lots of oversteer correct? I like my car to rotate but nothing uncontrollable. Any opinions and recommendations on tires would be appreciated. List of tires I've looked at

205/50/15 Nitto neo gens
205/50/15 Toyo R888R's
225/50/15 Toyo R888R's
205 Dunlop Spec Stars

car mostly sees the street so I want a versatile tire and with the r888 having a 100 treadwear rating I'm sure it's noisy and not very comfortable for street use, unless the grip is out of this world and makes it worth it.

Your current tires will be fine for a hyperdrive. You probably won't be driving fast enough to explore tire limits.

What Hunan said. Your tires will be just fine. My first few track days were on 420 tread wear tires. It's easier to learn your's and the car's limits with higher tread wear. 280tw will be fine.

Just make sure you have decent pads and fresh & flushed brake fluid. A higher temp fluid like motul RFB600 would be ideal. Also keep an eye on your temps, turbo Honda's tend to run pretty hot on track without cooling upgrades and ducting.

Any budget friendly pads you recommend? A friend recommended carbo xp10's but they're pretty much $200 for a set of fronts. Would the hawk pads in this link below suffice?

Your Hyper drive wont be very much on the hyper side.
Don't expect to go too fast at all, as the instructors are there to keep you under control.
They will be riding with you and will ensure your car doesn't see 4th gear often if at all.
The tires you have are fine, brake pads... for a hyper drive I would just go with a hawk HT10 since your car isn't set up for RR.
Fluid change is a must. see above posts.

Chad is a long time HT Mod id stop in and see him, pick his brain.
have fun!

I personally ran the Hawk DTC30 for a while (~$125 for the fronts). They have the widest temperature range of a race pad 100-1200 and can technically be driven on the street. HT-10 and up have a minimum temp of 300-400 and should not be used on the street. The DTC30 will squeal and dust more than a performance street pad like the HP-Plus. For a Hyperdrive the HP Plus will probably do fine as well. http://www.hawkperformance.com/sites...%20%281%29.pdf

You should only need stock or mild upgraded rear pads. I currently run the Hawk DCT60 in the front and the $30 Stop Tech sport pads from Rock Auto in the rear.
