Default Torsion Bar questions

I am building an E prepared 87 CRX Si and I am looking at my torsion bar upgrade possibilities, since I am new to torsion bars I need some help. First what are the stock size? I have found 23mm, 27mm, and 29mm upgrades available, what do these sizes correspond to in "spring weights"? ie: if I were running a 29mm torsion bar and I wanted a spring for the rear that was 50lbs heavier what would I get?

Also this may be a dumb question but what exactly does the panhard bar do? As the suspension moves does it keep the axle aligned?? TIA

The stock Torsion bar is 18 or 19mm. I upgraded from 21.5 to 27mm bars on my '85 Honda Challenge CRX. I have 450 lb. rear springs, which is a pretty good match for 27mm bars. I would need to go up to 600 lb. rears, for 29mm bars.

The Panhard rod keeps the body from shifting side to side, and a bent or broken Panhard rod makes the inside of a rear tire rub the inner fender (ask me how I know this).

I don't need to ask, I know! Those spring rates sound about right. I'm using 26mm bars with 400lb springs, and with the right tire pressure and shock settings, it's pretty stable. Not so much fun for the street, but hey, I didn't build it for the street...
