Default Torrential downpour shuts down racetrack

It's rare, but it happens. Was sitting on grid at NJMP Sunday afternoon when the skies opened up and flooded the track so badly we couldn't race.

Here's some footage cobbled together from my in-car cameras just to give you an idea of what it was like:

just happened to us again at thunder. we got shut down due to lightning around 1pm. theres 4-5 inches of water in turn 1. attempting two races tomorrow.

also happened to me at vir like two weeks ago...heavy enough ran that a hill eroded and covered the track with inches of dirt.

You're kidding. Rotten bit of luck two weekends running.

Oh yea. The driver of the blue #75 SRF shared this from his in-car video. Wonderful visibility at 100 mph.

For those who race with NASA, does this ever happen:

HPDE4 is on stand by during downpour, the emergency truck goes out and does recon laps when it lets up. They then cancel HPDE and announce YOUR race group to the grid in 10 minutes. So you go out on slicks or forfeit the points.

You live in an area known for rain and dont have a treaded set?

I have raintires. What starts of as a downpour before a DE group goes out (which means we have about 35 min to decide on tires) turns into race control skipping over the DE 10-15 min later and calling us to the grid. I am not good enough to suit up, belt in and change tires in 10. I am a 1 man show.

I've been in NJMP when it was raining all day. Was only TT so I didn't go out in it. From what I heard it was not fun to drive in..."new driving line around all of the pools." That visibility looks horrendous!
10 minutes...yea not enough time.

Makes sense, hard to do the Nascar pit stop when you are a one man show.
They could of given more time to allow for a tire change.
