Default Sway Bar Design

Does anyone know what goes behind a sway bar design? I thought all of them were bent, curvy, etc. until I saw this:

AEM/Eibach anti-sway for a civic.

This sway bar must be discontiued because there's no trace of it on either of their sites. I've never seen a straight sway bar so I was just wondering how they're designed or if this sway bar would be effective.

They're typically bent in all sorts of shapes for clearance. If there's nothing in the way, then they look like the one in your picture.

so the design doesnt matter then? It's just fitting it around the exhaust and other things right?

Right, ideally it's just a straight bar with two 90 degree bends for the arms. Everything else is just a compromise to fit the particular car.

When designing a swaybar these are the things that change it's effectiveness.

Thickness
Hollow or solid
Number of bends
Length of arms
Length of body
where to the end links attach in relation to the wheel

There are other things to consider but I think these are the basics.

I know several people who do.

This one looks to be designed for an EF or DA, because it doesn't look like it mounts to the subframe, but to brackets bolted onto the rear frame rails.

My ST bar on my DA has very minimal bends and looks very similar to that one...

The endlinks are where a lot of unknown potential lie. Spherical bearings do wonders here...

Not to burn your thread or anything, but I have installed front and rear energy suspension sway bars on my dc2 and they are both pretty straight. The only thing that I can honestly tell you is that I do not like them because I got stuck in the Car wash track...Lol. Car was ok, but I got stuck like a fool, took 5 washboys to lift the front of my car and had to have the 10 people waiting to get their rigs washed back up so I could get out of the car wash....Last time I pay for a washing on my car.
