Any ideas getting that dang tar off my floor?

Default Any ideas getting that dang tar off my floor?

ok i noticed that in NASA you have to get that tar off cuz its flammable. i have tried a heat gun and chizle. i have tried no heat gun and a chizle and hammer. they suck. is this the best way?

p.s. i didnt know if i should put it here or where...but i know most of you guys have done this so you have experience with it

Put some dry ice on it. Hit it with a hammer. Works like a charm.

where do i get dry ice? that wont hurt the floor? im assuming the tar will shatter?

Grocery store, some gas stations have it.

It shatters. Won't hurt the floor. Light taps with a rubber mallet do the trick.

look in the yellow pages under dry ice. call the biggest place in there and ask if you can buy/have the broken pieces that they can't sell to the companies that usually buy dry ice. i got 30lbs for free, which was about perfect to do my crx. break it into small pieces and spread it around, working a panel or two at a time until you get a feel for it and can guage how fast to go. aluminum foil halps hold it to funny curves. wear gloves, and give it 10 or 15 minutes to freeze the tar before you go at it with a hard mallet/ hammer. two of mine came up in complete pieces- it's really easy.

i didn't get it too close to wires/pipes or anything really sensitive, but it won't hurt anything.
