Default sudden braking -no brakes help

my car a dc5 brakes works in normal traffic but if you brake suddenly, there is no braking effect just hard pedal feel. bled air out, checked the one way air valve that gets vacuum from engine but all ok. im suspecting the brake MC. before i go and buy one, let me have ur opinion. thanks

Does the pedal sink to the floor? If not, most likely NOT a problem with the master cylinder. Maybe the calipers are frozen or something?

If your pedal is hard, like it has increased braking effort. Look to the booster first.

Could also be as easy as a bad vacuum source for the brake booster. There's a check valve inline with the brake booster, it could be sticky or otherwise cruddy.

I'd start checking that out first, make sure you have a good vacuum to the booster.
