streetability of 23mm torsion bars?
Mine is an 86 Civic Si w/D16A1 swap. Mind you with the stock torsion bars up front, only other suspension mods are KYB GR2's up front and Civic wagon springs out back, all at stock height.
I've been eyeing the OPM 23mm torsion bars (don't want 27mm) for the longest time. This is my daily driver with occaisional autocross duties. Just did one last weekend and the front bottomed out a bit.
Can anyone comment on having these on a daily driver??

Re: streetability of 23mm torsion bars? (squeaky)
I had 23mm bars in my old ITC CRX which I ocassionally drove on the street with Tokico Illuminas all around and Eibach lowering springs in the rear. With this setup it was a very bouncy ride in Wisconsin with our wonderful roads. I did a couple 4.5 hour freeway drives and I was fried afterward.
If you want to drive any distance, I would not do it.
Good luck

Here's a shot: http://jaymond_us.tripod.com/031702a...s/DSCF0027.htm
I bottomed out on a right turn. Think its the strut hitting the strut bearing, metal on metal, oy!

I've had the 23's in my 87 CRX Si, along with Tokico Illuminas, f/r sway bars and stiffer rear springs ... And loved it.
I probably put 250K miles on that car with that set-up (might have handled better than my R).
But then again, my friend Bob kept telling me he was getting headaches!
Go figure!

Re: streetability of 23mm torsion bars? (squeaky)
Maybe I should rephrase my question...
How's the streetability of Tokiko Adjustables with stock torsion bars?
I know those shocks adjust for compression and rebound, so maybe I could dial it up for the autox stuff, then go full soft for daily duties. Thoughts?
My goal is to maintain the comfy stock ride height with ability for autocross, while eliminating bottoming out. The bottoming out is down to a minimum after installing those KYBs, but still would like to get rid of it altogether. Having a little stiffer ride is not intolerable, heck my other car is a Miata lowered on Koni adj with big sway bars and 40 series tires...solid ride, but certainly tolerable.

The #1 setting is almost like a new stock shock, whereas the 4-5 settings are substantially stiffer.
By contrast my 85 CRX Si still has it's stock shocks (which seem to be totally shot by my estimation), and it wallows like a 30 year old cadillac (which by the way, Bob thought was quite nice ... once again, go figure).
The only problem seems to be that the Illuminas seem to only last a couple years of use when run in the harder settings, and watch those speed bumps and the like, because they seem to be relatively easy to "blow". Just remember to fill out your "lifetime" warranty card.
I'll be going to 27.5's front, Illuminas, f/r bars (w/ a 1" adj rear bar) and cut Wagon springs (whenever I get that 87 rolling again, W/rollcage). Later ...
