RSX VS SI

I've seen a fair number of RSX type S beating the civic SI, Why do you think that is? Isn't the motor supposibly the same?
Leave an opinion, fact, or whatever

The K20A2/K20Z1 may be similar to the K20Z3 but they are NOT the same.

The RSX-S may be a hair lighter. The RSX-S may have and aerodynamic advantage. The 05-06 RSX-S has a 4 Peak BHP advantage and has slightly more aggressive cams. The RSX-S has more Midrange power. The 05-06 RSX-S has a shorter 6th gear but the same 4.7 FD.

The RXS also has tuning aptions to tune your turbo/supercharger.

Kidnkorner 11-22-2008 04:09 PM

So does the Si, just not plug and play stand alone.

FijiBlueFG2 11-22-2008 04:35 PM

The RSX-S has also been around longer. The FA/FG Si is relatively "new".

CodyC142 11-22-2008 04:38 PM

stock for stock is the RSX overall faster? 0-60? 1/4?

FijiBlueFG2 11-22-2008 04:39 PM

Depends on the driver.

And who is willing to take it to the limit. (Literally)

You mean the K20A2/K20Z(3)...right? (insert winky face since H-T got rid of the smilies)

It's a complete driver's race. If one or the other win's, that car has the better driver. I've never lost to a stock type-s at the track.

KidNKorner-how did you bold those words? Did you just use html to do it, or do you have a toolbar? Because ever since H-T changed, I've had no toolbar, no smilies, etc.

CodyC142 11-22-2008 05:05 PM

Well, what if both cars were tested by car and driver, something along those lines. Which one is faster then?

K5^ 11-22-2008 05:06 PM

The dc5s has been on the market longer than the fg/fa's so they have more of a aftermarket backing over the Si's. Give it a few years and the two chassis will have that same support. Bur for now, the dc5s has quite a few advantages over our cars.

Fixed. They don't have the wink face or the crying face anymore. Go to "user cp" ; on the left go to "edit options" ; scroll all the way down the select "enhanced interface."

If the same professional driver test drove both cars under the exact same conditions, I'd say the type-s would be faster in the quarter mile, by a tenth at most.

Thanks bro! :thumbup::P:)

A bit of topic, but if you were to compare the FD2 vs. the DC5R then it's a different story.

HP, weight, etc they are pretty much on par with each other, but since the Si comes with a limited slip I see no competition, driving any powerful FWD car without one is a nightmare.

Targa250R 11-22-2008 06:28 PM

Unless all you ever do is accelerate at full throttle from a roll in a straight line all day long, this shouldn't even be a comparison. The '06+ Civic Si has a limited slip differential and the suspension is a vast improvement on the abomination bolted to the underside of an RSX (even with the '05-06 revisions).

The only reason I could ever justify buying an RSX over a Civic Si is for the versatility of the liftback body style. It's a real shame that Civics are no longer available as hatchbacks and that Honda doesn't offer a liftback coupe any longer.

No, those are the engines that are in the RSX-S, the vehicle being compared to the Si.

I will edit my post to clarify it.

im gonna have to agree with you sometimes its not the car at all some people dont know how to drive their cars.. my old friend has a evo 8 and he had never seen someone launch his car like i did also my brother inlaw has a sentra se-r and he was amazed at my skills

kicked25th 11-24-2008 07:39 PM

All I know if I had a 06+ Si, I would have the Hondata Reflash in 2.5 seconds and saying Adios to stock RSXs

luis31 11-24-2008 07:51 PM

its all a drivers race honestly. i have both cars. but my type s is a 02. my fg2 is stock and my type s has a intake and exhaust. i raced both cars against each other for the sake of science, and my fg2 came out on top both times.
*for those wondering, i got a buddy of mine and we each took turns driving each car.

i-VTEC_DOHC 11-24-2008 10:22 PM

i raced a stock rsx-s before i got my dcrh on and beat him by half a car. its a drivers race really.

hell yea, i had an ep3 with the type-s motor and in tight corners the inside wheel just span like no other

As far as NASA's rules are concerned, the RSX should be faster. RSX-S is classed TTD/PTD and the Si is classed TTE/PTE. Personally, I think the Si is faster, but I've only run laps against one RSX and I don't think it was the best comparison with the difference in drivers.

Kidnkorner 11-26-2008 10:11 PM

Stock vs Stock the Si suspension is better

SCCA classing is absolute bullshit for ALL HONDAS except completely stock ones that are slow. Stock 92 Civic Si being the fastest of the slow hondas in a long list.. .

Midwest SCCA finally re-classed the TEG ITR in a new class ITR. It was previously in ITE which is just ****ing retarded putting it up against turbo porsches and vipers.. . SCCA has no love for Honda b/c it doesn't want to keep up with all the differences in makes and models and swaps and power mods.. .

SCCA's terrible classing even crosses over into Autocross where the 06+ Stock Civic Si has to be in STX b/c of the LSD which given all mods to max classing even Randy Pobst couldn't drive into a Nationals and win.

Hondata will have a dual ECU standalone available soon for the 06+ Si's. They just came out with the setup for the TSX and S2000s.

The 06Civic Sis can fit 255 street tires with minor pull/fender rolling in front. Prob max 245s out back with fender rolling and cutting. R comps is still questionable but I'd imagine 235 r comps are going to be the limit unless you get the Type RR front end conversion which gives you 10mm more clearance up front.

I bought my 08 Si new a couple months ago. I bought it b/c my 06 350Z was a pc of junk and the Si is the most reasonable, efficient, fun sport(y) car for under 25G you can buy NEW. You can't buy the RSX-S new anymore, it's discontinued. The TSX is a great option but costs way too much unless you buy one that is used IMO. I'd rather spend the money on a new STI or EVO than on a TSX.

beanbag 11-28-2008 08:57 PM

Why does the 350Z suck?

6spdKEG 11-28-2008 09:07 PM

05 anniversary and 06 track and 06 G35s basically have a motor recall on them (TSB actually). The motor they put in doesn't solve the problem. Oil consumption problems. The axles click and clang. The car is heavy, all the NA power mods are worthless including cams. Only power mod worth a darn is a turbo kit.

the interior sucks, chips off. Customer service on Nissans Sucks b/c they've had so many problems with the 350Z.. . Axles and tranny problems including tire feathering issues on 03s and 04s.
