Rotor Spacers
Hey guys, I'm looking to install Integra Type R front brakes on my 2000 Civic Si. From the research I've done it appears the Type R hubs are 5mm thicker/offset further from caliper than GSR or Civic Si front hubs. Most threads say to grind off the caliper brackets and I'm not so sure I want to grind brake parts so my other opinion would be to use a spacer to space the rotors 5mm from the hub. My first thought was to use wheel spacers but I'm thinking that wheel spacers would be too large in diameter to fit underneath the rotor hat. Does anyone know of any rotor or wheel spacers that will clear the rotor hat?
Thanks,
Justin
Thanks,
Justin

Re: Rotor Spacers
Like the poster above said, you can purchase the 23t caliper brackets pre-milled from fastbrakes.
I just had 4mm milled off of the back of mine at a local machine shop. Been running them for years along with redrilled prelude rotors. But if Fastbrakes had existed when I did the conversion I would have just bought the kit.
Are you doing just the brake conversion or changing to 5 lug?

Re: Rotor Spacers
I still had to grind a very small portion of the calipers purchased from Fastbrakes. A 5mm spacer will increase track width and help reduce roll moment. Although the motion ratio changes slightly up front I wouldn't worry about 5mm, this is less than a quarter inch. You should notice a small increase in mid corner grip with the 5mm spacers.
H&R make great spacers...make sure you purchase the longer studs as well. DO NOT USE stock length studs with spacers!!!

Re: Rotor Spacers
I'm thinking I'm just going to mill the bracket. I plan on sticking with the stock Civic hub. I looked at the hub today and realized it has a two step rotor/wheel centric center. It's going to be much easier to mill the bracket than it will to make spacers and centering rings for rotor/and wheel. Thanks for the input guys.

Re: Rotor Spacers
I'm using brakes off my Prelude which I put TSX brakes on. Even though it's so simple brake upgrades are always a pain. I had to use TSX hubs to run the rotors because the stock Prelude hubs were too tall in OD. Good times.

Yeah but those cars are two generations apart, so its not unexpected that some hardware would have changed a bit. Putting integra stuff on a civic should be easy breezy.

just buy the kit from www.fastbrakes.com, then you can just bolt them right on.
